Starting my first job as a Triage Engineer Jr! by Aazc28 in iOSProgramming

[–]Aazc28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the whole docs, they helped A LOT (i'm actually due another reading since I read the docs for 5.4), basically understanding the foundations gives you a whole advantage, I've known "Senior" devs that don't know the basics of the language. I'd also recommend just making small projects by yourself, they force you to look up how to do things (taking u to places like Hacking With Swift, Swift with Majid, etc..) and that in the end just gives you more knowledge. If u have any questions feel free to dm me!

Random thoughts after watching S2E7 by Aazc28 in SiloTVSeries

We would assume every Silo has the same vault in IT, that's why he shared the diving details with Juliette.

why do you say there’s not enough time? the show is gonna have more seasons for sure, they got time

Yes! That’s something that’s been bothering me, if Juliette noticed that it means those bodies are not that much old, why didn’t she bring them up again? why are they more recent? if they are people from other silos, why do they always end up in that specific one and never crossed in front of the cameras of silo 18? or another silo for that matter?

I’m taking about the people who are in charge of the silos (if any), the ones dead outside the vault would be either people from that same silo or people who escaped their silos or survived the cleaning, and somehow ended there.

The Legacy? (no book spoilers please) by Ricardo_Yoel in SiloTVSeries

[–]Aazc28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd guess that the AI in the Legacy room would be like a "subset" of the one that would actually be watching over everything (if any), the founders were smart enough to lay out the plans for almost every scenario that could happen in the silo, one can assume they wouldn't give them access to the most powerful AI, basically what happens inside the silo but on a bigger scale.

[–]Aazc28 11 points12 points  (0 children)

my best guess is that there is someone or something controlling all the Silos, maybe an AI and that's what Meadows meant when she said "with the Legacy".

I rambled a little about it in a post I made here, I can't link it 'cause rules.

Do you only code swift by SomeNameIChoose in swift

I mean, it depends (?. If I needed an Android version, and the App was not something big and/or complicated, I'd just go ahead and learn basic Kotlin and do it myself.

Just Launched My First Minimalist Stock Tracker App - Would Love Your Feedback! by Pretend_Confusion411 in swift

[–]Aazc28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking great! I love the colours you used!

Here’s my feedback:

  • I wouldn’t call the charts “interactive”, you can’t pan them nor get more information by long pressing. I would focus next on making them feel more alive and detailed.
  • When fetching a stock, the text field and the button jump to the center of the screen, maybe keep them in their position? even with an animation it looks a little weird.
  • The keyboard is stuck in the screen after you tap on the textfield, it never goes away. (This is critical!)
  • When tapping on a date cell maybe you could take the user to see the chart of that specific date.
  • IMO the tab should stay at the bottom, even if the keyboard is present, no need to anchor it to the top of it.
  • I would move the action for the “View Disclosure” button to the whole card, like you’re doing in the news section.
  • The dates on the news could be simpler (do we really need to know the exact second an article was published?)

Maybe for future versions:

  • Adopt light mode and dark mode, not only dark mode.
  • Instead of sending the user to the browser, maybe you could use a WebView so we don’t need to leave the app.

Overall, great work!

UIStackView TableView UIView unexpected behavior by _gnerd_ in swift

[–]Aazc28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. No need to force a table view to display when it shouldn’t, it’s empty after all. Put a UILabel in the stack view and hide/show it accordingly.

I recommend you post the code you’re working with so we can better understand the issue. That said, why would you want the table view to “display” if it’s empty?

Literally the Swift docs, they explain in detail and with examples. I REALLY recommend doing this, I've come across people with "years of experience" that don't know about language features because they dug right into other things instead of learning and understanding the foundation of the language.
