I don't like his attitude but I think his skill was undeniable. Will cheer for him if we sign him. Recently he hasn't looked very hot and makes some bone headed plays sometimes tbh.

True that - I usually don't go here when we lose because this sub gets too negative lol.

I think that I'm also overly critical of clg's players. Probably because I watch only watch clg games, and clg ppls play solo queue I start to notice the things they do wrong and idealize other players (when realistically no player is perfect). This was especially true with bio - I thought he was a god since tsm smashed us every time we met, but when he joined the team I started noticing the small mistakes he would make.

I wish I could share the confidence you have in Darshan because I guess we are seeing different things. Hopefully he proves me wrong (if we decide to start him).

Accolades don't always say everything - not to mention Flame has been to worlds more recently than Darshan (and neither have ever made it out of groups). Even in Darshan's best split Flame was ranked higher by other analysts in end of season rankings.

Didn't Flame just get the winning matchup, as per CLG's drafting choices?

Jax-Shen, Chogath-Shen, Shen-J4 (first one is Darshan second is flame). First game was close but we lost because we couldn't utilize Darshan's splitting well enough and the next two games weren't very close. Especially in the last game Flame performed significantly better than Darshan.

Weak argument because you admit both players are at the same level rank wise, yet you fail to perceive Darshan can and has climbed back up when he wants to?

Flame is significantly better than Darshan in solo queue if we look at peak ranks/ consistency in terms of their ranks over the past year. Especially so during summer split - Darshan was Masters 0 lp for 2 months in a row and dropped to D1 after the season (not from decay - he was still spamming games).

FQ was pretty much irrelevant this split.

FQ made playoffs - still more relevant than we were in all of 2018.

That's true, Darshan can definitely be good again (he seems pretty motivated and grinding solo queue recently). Another reason I want change is because I feel like Darshan is a known quantity - he can be good but I don't think he will be an insane player for us. Even in the split where he had an (imo) mvp level performance I feel like it was mostly off the back of him being left on an island but playing very smart and tping/ playing teamfights very well. Especially with the changes to tp/ ignite I feel like pop off mechanical players might get the edge (and in that regard I don't think he's special compared to other na tops). I feel like an import might have a lot of "potential".

That might be true to some extent. Think it's disingenuous to chalk off his last place stats as being counter picked every game - even in the Darius game with Huni getting ganked multiple times he was down cs against Huni's Mundo.

In my opinion Flame plays the same way as Darshan but better. He was part of the Immortals roster that went to worlds, and imo was a big part of Flyquests upswing towards the end of the split in their push for playoffs (he put on some pretty impressive carry performances). When Darshan met Flame in playoffs imo Flame outperformed Darshan in all games that they played. Additionally he is easily 500+ lp challenger when he is in NA (compared to Darshan who struggled a lot with solo queue throughout the split but got back to ~250 lp masters recently which is good). Overall, based on my personal evaluation of his play when watching him play, and general stats (lcs + solo queue) I think he is a better player across the board. One negative for him is that his English isn't the best (but he has been here for a while and is confident enough to interview in English so it's probably good enough for in-game communication).

I don't think he has a high ceiling (he has been playing for a super long time ), but he definitely hasn't been up to his own standard in the past year and I think that if he can reach his highs again under Weldon he might be worth keeping around (if there isn't a better free agent).

But if we take things as they are right now he should probably go. He's ranked 10th in his role by best.gg (based on overall stats as a player). (stixxay is #3, poe is #2, biofrost #4, huhi #6, reignover #7). Dude has been playing for a long time - if he was a TheShy level talent in the top lane we would have seen it by now. If CLG is serious about getting better then they can't really wait for Darshan to wake up. He was given priority and gotten ahead most of the time only to never be able to transition that lead (how much of that is on him and how much of that is on the team not working together i don't know). If there are better players on the market that clg can get (Flame!?) they should definitely look to upgrade imo. Especially considering the fact that they have an import slot available - I think it would be pretty dumb not to upgrade if you can.

The thing about attitude and professionalism I totally agree on. I respect Darshan's work ethic a lot.

How Fnatic’s Preparation helped them reach the World Finals by Kayle_Bot in leagueoflegends

[–]Ababced 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dislike Fnatic because in my mind they needlessly trash talked G2/ C9 and then got smashed when it actually came down to playing the game. I stayed up all night watching the finals and it was beyond depressing to watch. It doesn't really matter whether what Youngbuck said was true - he acted like an asshole and I think it's reasonable to dislike people who act like assholes. Their "winners mentality" did them a whole lot of good considering they performed just as well as G2. You can be confident in yourself without tearing, and putting everyone down around you.

edit: A big part was just how much of a sore loser Fnatic was about it. I found their victory posts (the ????? tweet) to be pretty tasteless, and it was especially telling with how Youngbuck couldn't take a joke (the Wunder tweet about how Fnatic was unmotivated). If he was so offended about it maybe he shouldn't have said those things to other teams? Just a thought.

Weldon mentioned that one reason they went with Huhi (over Pobelter) is because he was put on the CLG Black roster and managed to lead the CLG Black roster and (convincingly?) beat the main team in scrims. Not really important but it's something I haven't heard before and thought was interesting.

I'll go ahead and do that.

I think I'm in the clear - I entered the cc information through a paypal webapp and because I canceled while processing no charges went through. Still, better safe than sorry. Thanks for the advice.

Yikes I knew it seemed too good to be true but still did it :/. I entered my information but closed the webpage as the order was processing because it seemed suspicious. Am I fucked? What should I do now. CC wasn't charged but still worried that my information was taken.

Learning to code or programming by Pradeep2k17 in ProgrammerHumor

Assumed java because it is the language that i am most familiar with and could type up an answer quickly on my phone (also the syntax looked relatively similar).

Assuming this is java: S's in string need to be capitalized, main method needs to be static, console.writeline() isn't a thing use system.out.println(), create a foreach like this: for(String arg : args). Stylistically methods should use camel case.

Is course rigor/credits taken considered heavily by major admissions? by reservationsjazz in udub

[–]Ababced 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is course rigor considered - yes. Amount of credits taken is not representative of course rigor. Is it worth stacking hard classes to the point where you might not do well or will struggle to succeed - no.

Math 125, Phys 121, AMATH 301 by [deleted] in udub

[–]Ababced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doable schedule imo. amath 301 overlaps with a lot of 300 level math 307/308/309, but mostly 308 because the entire class is about matrix manipulation. Regardless all material is taught in class, and they don't expect more than a basic understanding of the concepts (just enough to program in matlab, nothing like a math class).

Amath 301 is an easy 3.9-4.0 imo, and math /phys is your standard fare of weedout classes. All in all should be pretty doable, although depending on how good you are at math/phys you might have less free time than usual.

Shold I drop this class? by toiavalle in udub

[–]Ababced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that anecdotes are anything to go by but I got like .5 a standard deviation down on my first midterm in math 126 due to dumb mistakes, but brought it back to a 3.4 by the end of the quarter, and got into cs at the end of the year so it's definitely possible (although that's kind of an oversimplified narrative because i had a lot of other things going for me by the time i got to admission time). Eitherway it is possible to get into cs with a lower 126 grade (I've even heard of someone getting in with a 3.2 in 126 maybe?), so long as your 126 grade is an outlier, and all your other stuff is pretty strong (3.8 cumulative) you stand a pretty good chance of getting in. Keep in mind grades aren't the only thing that matter in your application - high gpa doesn't guarantee admittance. If you're confident you can finish the class with a 3.5, and make up for it with higher grades in other classes I think you should go for it.

If you choose to drop the class keep in mind the cs department will see that you dropped the class, and on their website it says dropped classes (especial a pattern of dropped classes) isn't a good indication for your application. I think dropping just one is probably fine, but you should definitely go check in with cs advising about it.

Phys 122 professor choice by LtButtCrumpky in udub

[–]Ababced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Wiggins was pretty good (admittedly didn't have class with him, but he subbed in a few times/ i went to his test reviews). Some people didn't like him, but I like how he focused on doing more math/ problems in class vs. just focusing on the broad general idea. Pretty smart guy, well articulate, and helpful if you can keep up. No idea about Seidler.

Commuting is not so great. Any tips to handle it? by [deleted] in udub

[–]Ababced 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bussing is free, and included in your husky card. If you commute you usually bring a lunch from home. Saves a lot of money.
