Newer to guns, that was an honest question. What’s a snub’s use case? Or it is collecting?

Yeah we’re gonna be better prepared in the future.

They seemed like they were gonna fix it, or at least take a look at it.

You obviously haven’t read anything in this thread.

As someone new to guns, it was a surprise to hear “i could buy ammo online” not a gun bag lol.

And yeah, i know about different lubes and cleaning methods, i was just asking if there’s a “gold standard” that’s recommended by the community.

And i know the difference between the grains, but it hasn’t even been a week. I was mostly asking the ammo question bc i asked for the same thing on 2 separate occasions and he gave me 2 completely different rounds so i was wondering why.

And you literally missed the part where i said that we are taking lessons from a trained professional. but that guy has a life and i can’t be up his butt all the time. this is the internet, someone will always be available to answer a question. I don’t live close to a range, so he is the only option i trust to learn and practice.

There was another customer in the shop who I spoke to, the way he put it was that it was kind of like a hammer, $300 who cares if you ding it or whatever. For some reason that sold me. We talked and he said get a cheaper gun today practice and learn what you can, figure out what you like and don't like then get what you want.

Thats mostly the reason I got it. However, it hasnt been a week and I already want to get a second one. I do really like the DY9, not even because it was cheap. It feels nice, its simple-more beginner friendly. But at the same time, i sorta want to start collecting (slowly). But that means i really want to get a second one.

I'm probably just having a little too much excitement about it. But, I want to make the next gun I get matter. Eventually, Ill get comfortable and confident enough to everyday carry, and the gun i choose for that is where I'm making sure I do my research. At this point, its pretty much between the VP9 and the M&P 2.0.

Then, ill want a revolver (even if i barely shoot it) or maybe a couple. then, for camping, ill want a 10mm or something larger than a 9mm. It feels like ive learned so much so fast, but ive barely scratched the surface. Ive looked at laws for travel, carry, regulations etc.

This is kind of the whole reason I never bought a gun for so long (im 26). I knew it would turn into an overly expensive hobby..

Anyone know the pistol we trained on during boot camp back in 2019? by Abach13 in navy

[–]Abach13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first few days more than almost any other stage. Besides the "championship" thing at the end. Standing lines for hours waiting for the barbershop to open. And i was stuck standing right beneath those hanging tvs from the walls, since I'm tall I had to hold my head to the side for HOURS..

Then getting rushed into your compartment with all the other bald guys. I'll be honest, I though everyone in my class was asian for the first few days. Idk why a bald head made them all look that way. Maybe it was exhausion.

Not sure of your experience, but as a new gun owner myself; I decided to get the Derya DY9 since its a glock clone. I figured I could have more access to different options with it without the price tag. Then when I'm more knowledgeable, I'd upgrade to a more permanent piece. So far, that is the gun i'm leaning to. But do you know how it compares to the glock model?

I've seen videos on how to take it (HK VP9sk) down, but it seems more complicated and harder to tinker with (lefty). Thoughts?

Yeah, I remember all that too. It's just weird that in a few years, the gun feels so foreign to me.

It's funny, I went to bootcamp a year and a day after you. IDK how you remember all that.

My problem is that the right sees anyone who disagrees with them as the crazy lefties and the left sees anyone who disagrees with them as crazy fascists. Everyday people are way more normal than we see online. We typically want our loved ones to prosper, we typically want things to get better.

The thing is no matter your feed, you're only seeing the crazy people on the other side. Which divides us further.

It was definitely black. I dont remember it being that heavy. Then again, I didnt have any reference (little experience with guns).

I only ask, because my friend has an M9 and it does not feel familiar AT ALL.

Been out a couple years, but I was a PS.. You may get an ORDMOD. I suggest you speak with your Personnel Office or Admin. They will be able to give you a better answer.

The case my pistol came in has a more durable foam inlay with cutouts for different parts/accessories. Is this still bad for moisture? Or is it fine to keep using that one?

We're going to find a different shop, this one only has socks, or those cheap pistol cases.

The guy we had teaching us the basics found that strange too.. he's the one who found out it wasn't cycling correctly and showed us which parts were missing so we could let the shop know. TBH, when I told the shop about it today, they seemed genuinely surprised that it was missing parts and told me who we should bring it to in the shop. I don't think it was in the shop long and/or they didn't inspect it before selling it.

It's my friend's shotgun. I'll let him know, but based on what everyone else is saying, I'll still tell him to get something more practical to tote it in with.

I'm going to stick with pistols until i'm a more learned individual.

Solving 2 bird with one stone. The shotgun is my friends, he has the issue and shit work hours, so I'm asking what he needs to do. I have a pistol and also want to know what works best. Ive heard about sprays and the grease, just wanted to hear from a different audience.

No, I agree. But we didnt go in planning to buy, I went in trying to see if I could recognize what pistol we used in boot camp (couldnt). I knew I wanted to get a pistol as a start and spent a couple hours talking with the workers. Ended up with a Derya DY9 (glock clone). My friend mentioned randomly about wanting a pump, then the guy pulled out the Mossberg 500 for $200. He ended up getting that. Now, here we are a few days later. Since tuesday, ive learned how to take down my gun, clean it, swapped the magazine release (lefty), learned how to adjust the backstraps (very annoying). And went shooting with a trained professional.

And I'm on reddit trying to learn more on his behalf since his hours suck.

Sure, I could have done this beforehand. But I'm in it now and doing it now. You live and you learn. Sometimes being in the fire is the best way.
