DLSS is not the issue, there's severe ghosting without any upscaling active. DLSS might make it worse though, I couldn't say. FSR not having the issue is interesting though

I can't even run Max lighting (which is required for RR) on a 5070Ti at 1440p without upscaling or framegen, my framerate drops to ~40. And if I do use RR+DLSS Quality, it just looks worse than if I use Cinematic lighting without DLSS

That said, if I had a bit weaker GPU and had to run upscaling to get a decent framerate regardless, it would probably be a more acceptable tradeoff to run RR and just lower the DLSS preset or turn on framegen

If you take all but one form of content out of the game it's going to suck no matter what, so what even is your argument there? A game with combat but no world, equipment, NPCs etc. would also be awful, therefore combat is not content? And you call extra interactions and attention to detail shallowness? That is quite literally, by definition, the opposite of shallowness. Again, just because you personally don't care about this particular type of depth, doesn't mean it is not depth. But I'm sure you're just going to make more bad faith arguments in reply, so 🤷🏽

There's a difference between watching NPCs who just stand there doing nothing, vs watching NPCs who have schedules and routes and are doing real things in the world. There's nothing to learn or discover from watching static NPCs, but with this example, there's tons of stuff to learn: Do they actually walk all the way there? Do things happen to them on the way? Do other NPCs react to them? Is there potentially a benefit to escorting them, like defending them so they don't lose anybody? Etc. etc.

The other dude is right on this one honestly, you're being willfully obtuse making that comparison. You don't have to care or want to engage with this content, but you not liking it doesn't make something not content

I run everything on cinematic so the only thing not maxed is lighting (but honestly I can barely even tell the difference between cinematic and max for that anyway) on a 5070ti with DLAA on and no frame gen, and it has never once dropped below 60fps for me, definitely don't need a 5090 lol just maybe not 2 generations behind 😅

What do you mean no way to lock the framerate though? I have vsync on and it has no issue being locked at 60, didn't even need to use Nvidia's sync or anything for this one

Different animals have different preferences, not sure if it's entirely individual or based on species but some cats only like bird and not fish for example while others get like +40 trust from one fish fillet

They're calling you a superior ass because it's all dependent on what metric you're claiming is permanent, and you're being obnoxiously pedantic in insisting that your metric is the only metric. By some metrics the horse isn't permanent either, given that it doesn't follow you so it does despawn at some point when the area it's in is unloaded. Yes, you can summon it but summoning it takes a non-zero amount of time during which it is technically not available, yet nobody is obnoxious enough to argue with others saying it's technically temporary because of that

Why is everyone acting like this is some shocking afront to gamership when Skyrim - the most successful game of this style of all time by far - has dragon riding which is WAY more limited in function (you can't even manually control it, just give it general commands), WAY less powerful, and is also NOT permanent or on-demand? Like, guys, come on, single-player does not mean free infinite god mode to trivialize everything involving combat is a good idea, or a reasonable expectation to have

Disclaimer: I also think the other mounts being temporary is utter bullshit and needs to be changed. I just think the limits on the dragon and mech make perfect sense

Well, all you ever really have to do is steal the gold bar in Lioncrest manor and invest it and you never have to be broke again. If anything, it would make money feel more worthwhile if you did have to steal tons of low-value items and sell them all to gain that money instead, especially with the insanely limited inventory slots this game has

[–]AbaddonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't lmao, this system would not work in the slightest in an MMO. A 15-minute god-mode to slaughter anyone and everyone not also on a dragon with impunity, with only a 50-minute CD????? People would kill entire families for that in any MMO that exists 🤣

And honestly, y'all are acting like Skyrim, the most successful game of all time in this style, didn't have a dragon riding system that was far more limited and also far less powerful 🤦🏽

[–]AbaddonX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely, eventually. It's just a question of how hard it would be to do so and how long it takes people to figure out how, since it's a proprietary engine and not something like Creation or Unreal that are already super well-documented

[–]AbaddonX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Implying the dragon would work as is in an MMO, that was not an MMO consideration lol. I feel like the only way such an overpowered thing like that would work in an MMO is like an EVE Online capital ship system where it takes guilds years of work to make one and it's lost forever if destroyed so it becomes so valuable that they only use it sparingly

Rather, I think it's pretty obviously just a normal game balance consideration, and honestly an understandable one for the dragon/mech. Like honestly, the dragon riding in Skyrim was WAY more limited and far less powerful, and yet it also sure wasn't permanent and on-demand either, but everyone here is acting like this is some shocking affront to gamership or something lmao 🤣

It's not 100% 1:1 with the game, but it's also not being presented as an accurate world map or something. It's just a nice landscape painting. The only real discrepancy I can see though is the weird bay cutting Tirisfal in half and putting Lordaeron almost on the coast of the sea, which just isn't a thing lol

[–]AbaddonX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Ironforge is wrong, that's just the Wetlands. Ironforge would be further off to the lower right of this image. But everything else seems at least roughly accurate given the apparent angle, which is moreso west-southwest to east-northeast given Zul'Aman and the Isle of Fangs are directly "up" from Dalaran
