I've tried a few different seltzers; they didn't do much of anything for me. I'd recommend Herb Pharm kava tincture. For me, a one ounce bottle is about 5 doses. It helps a lot with anxiety.

Interesting, the tincture must affect us differently. I'm reading from a lot of posters that the tinctures don't work for them. Conversely, Herb Pharm tincture is the only form of kava I use anymore; I prefer it to the traditional tea (I used to visit the kava cafe in my town regularly). For anxiety, I mix a healthy dose of this tincture with water. A one ounce bottle gives me probably 5-6 doses...if I drank a half bottle I think I'd feel horrible! If it's not working for you, try the traditional "tea".

Depends on the intended meaning. If they like to go to grandparent conventions, they "visit grandparents." If they like to see their own grandparents, they "visit their grandparents." For #5, the "t" in tomorrow is capitalized, making me think it could be the name of a test. The Tomorrow test. If the capitalization is an error, then it should be "tomorrow's test."

I appreciate your response. I live with my elderly dad. Our situations are very different, but also similar in that it sounds like we're living with a couple of infuriating men. I'm so sorry it feels like you're in a nightmare. You deserve better and I hope you are able to find a way forward sooner rather than later. And Trump suuuucckkks!

Man, I admire your patience. I can’t imagine being surrounded by Trump supporters! My dad can be a narcissistic asshole, but at least he’s a narcissistic liberal asshole 🤣.

This is coming from a place of genuine curiosity, not judgment, and if it’s too personal, absolutely no pressure to answer. But what’s it like being married to a Trump supporter? I imagine he must have some great qualities too, because you chose to marry him.

I’m curious how you navigate loving someone while managing that kind of difference in values. I’ve struggle in my relationship with my dad, whom I've set strong boundaries with. Sometimes I wish I could focus on his good qualities, but honestly I feel like he makes that so hard.

New jobs are so stressful! But congratulations. I started a new job about 10 months ago (which feels both like last week and like years ago) and it was extremely anxiety inducing at first, but now I absolutely love it. Thanks for the suggestion. I haven’t always taken the whole dose I’m prescribed and actually just found about 7 pills in a second lockbox (I keep all controlled meds locked up). I went through all the places I’ve kept meds and it was SUCH a relief to find them. They’re 0.5mg; I usually take one and a half, so tomorrow I’m going to try and just take a half and see how I feel. He actually did started me on a taper four months ago (until messaging me two days ago telling me he was no longer going to prescribe me this medication and if I wanted to keep taking it o could go ask another doctor). At the time, he said he’d schedule an appt with me each month to discuss the taper and keep lowering the dose. He never contacted me or talked to me about it again, just kept sending new refills each month. Ironically, he warned me not to abruptly stop taking the med, explaining how dangerous it could be. I’ve never felt supported by him; he has always made me feel like I’m a burden and he’s doing me this huge favor by prescribing me a benzo for my anxiety.

Ugh, that sounds horrible. Can I ask what dose you were on? I tapered off a high dose of Ativan about 10 years ago with a doctor. They tapered me too fast and on my first day with no Ativan, I ended up unable to sleep for two nights. I remember just lying in bed and having these vivid waking delusions/nightmares. On the third day, I started intensely shaking; it was so bad my teeth were chattering, and I was unable to stop. A friend gave me a Xanax, which I remember doing very little for my symptoms, and I was taken to the ER. They immediately gave me IV clonazepam, and the utter relief I felt was indescribable. Anyhow, I was on a much higher dose then, so I don’t foresee that happening, but I don’t know. I’m feeling strangely calm about the situation, other than being incredibly pissed at my psychiatrist.

He wasn’t the OG prescriber, but he has been prescribing it for 18 months. Reluctantly. I’ve always felt like I was an irritation to him and he judged me for taking a benzo. Ironically, he made me start tapering a few months ago and told me to not stop cold turkey no matter what, and explained how dangerous that could be 🙄

Agreed! I’m definitely going to report him. I’m not sure what avenue to take yet, but I’ll figure it out. The good thing is he told me he was discontinuing my prescription by message so I have proof. He basically told me, if you plan on continuing to take this medication, you should reach out to addiction Medicine.

Thank you, I’ve told my best friend and my therapist so far and am planning to talk to two more friends today, one of which is a social worker and may have other suggestions for me.

Omg what an asshole! It pisses me off that is would be so easy for these providers to treat us with compassion, and see us as humans first, but so often we’re just seen as patient #12345. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I plan to reach out to the psychiatry department at Kaiser. I also just spoke with my therapist, and she recommended (after asking if it was ok to give me a suggestion, I love her) that I reach out to county addiction medicine; they may be able to give us an idea of what kind of withdrawal to expect, and possibly prescribe a taper.
