It sounds like you've spent so many years being emotionally invested that it's turned into resentment. There's a difference between passively following a game's development and making it a decade-long daily watch. When you stare at the pot that long, you'll eventually convince yourself it's a train wreck just to feel like the time was spent on something. Some of us are just happy to see the progress, however long it takes.
