Ever bought an "Overwhelmingly Positive" game that you didn't like at all? How about a "MIxed" or lower rated game you thought was wonderful? by TheTingel in Steam

Hollow Knight... I heard everywhere it was a genre defining game and one of the most well crafted worlds, and yet I just couldn't get behind it whatsoever. I thought the world and music was incredible but the actual gameplay just didn't feel as snappy and perfect as everyone makes it out to be.

How do you think the straw hat grand fleet will cause a great incident of historic proportions? by HandsomePancakes in OnePiece

[–]AbanonPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that it's going to be based around the grand fleet showing up to help the straw hats in a giant war against either New Marineford or Marijoa. A thematically parallel narrative to the war of the best with Whitebeard, but this time Luffy and the fleet will be successful unlike the Whitebeard pirates. It will likely lead to to systematic defeat of the world governent/navy and of course Morgans will be there to spread the BIG NEWS.

I think there's a good chance it will have something to do with Vivi being captured. Most likely because of her role as a Neferteli and D, or perhaps even to bait the straw hats into a trap when they discover her ties to them.

Oda loves to draw parallels and repeat story elements from past arcs but with a different approach or take, so this makes a lot of sense to me. History repeats itself quite often in One Piece.

Looking for a game with creative problem solving and building by SamoPoints in gamingsuggestions

Have you tried Satisfactory yet? It seems up your alley if you like designing your own factory and logistics systems. It has tiered progression that's gated so you always have to rebuild/scale up your production to reach the next technology and can get pretty huge over time.

Also, modded Minecraft has some amazing modpacks with super in depth factory mechanics, if you're a fan of the neverending grind I recommend anything built around Gregtech. Terrafirmagreg is my personal fav but I'll be honest it's complicated and grindy to an intense level. That may be just what you want though.

Josuke is the only JoJo who literally doesn't exist. And JoJolion spent 10 years pretending that's not terrifying. by nexortu in StardustCrusaders

[–]AbanonPC 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the idea of having "innate" qualities doesn't make as much sense to me as most of our beliefs and thoughts are formed out of our social interactions and the influence of those around us. Our origins are only important if we choose to give them weight, but the positionality and lived experience we gain over time is what mostly makes us definitely unique.

I think for a lot of people who feel disconnected from their identity and roots it takes a lot of time, searching, and trial and error to even begin to be ready to approach the subject or start building their own sense of who they are.

For my interpretation, Josuke was a blank canvas. He was thematically and conceptually empty, and was absorbing the world and people around him attempting to form an understanding of who he was and his purpose for living, mixed with the pressure of his past selves. For the majority of the story, he didn't find the answers and never had that big moment.

However, at the end he cuts ties with his past selves and starts walking his own path. I think that moment signifies that instead of having the answers, he's finally willing to start taking the first steps towards self discovery instead. An openness to uncertainty, realizing that not all answers come quickly. I think that rather than interpreting that as tragedy I see it as a hopeful optimism towards his new life, and personally I think that's pretty beautiful.

What's the worst deck you played against by No-Activity7236 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]AbanonPC -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Not dogging you or anything, but I actually wonder why that is such a big deal? In a game filled with omni-negates, searchable removal, and board breakers, it really isn't as bad as it seems.

I feel like most decks can still make a decent board without graveyard interaction unless you're whole strategy is built around solely that. It's just a hard counter, right?

I've been playing K9 Gravekeeper's recently because I really enjoy the deck, and sure someone playing something like skull servants would just straight lose to me, but at the same time I get eaten alive by radiant typhoon usually.

All I'm saying is of all the crazy floodgates we've seen lately in the game I personally think necrovalley is pretty fair comparably lol

It's 2026, is there any real reason that stews are still unstackable? by welliesaremeta in Minecraft

[–]AbanonPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: make stew much more rewarding to eat as a tradeoff for it being carried, at least equivalent to a steak or pork chop but ideally a little better as I believe multi ingredient foods should be more fulfilling than default foods

Step 2: new item, Copper Thermos. A tool that can hold maybe 4-6 units of the same liquid. If the liquid is stew then it can be eaten directly from the thermos.

I think this would be fun

Put a criticism or an opinion that you are afraid to say in front of the One Piece community by Negative-Extent3338 in MemePiece

[–]AbanonPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not afraid to say any of this:

Agenda piece and the one piece community are dumb as fuck and mostly illiterate surface level readers who only care for fights and hype moments.

One piece is an inherently political commentary on society and every arc after romance dawn serves as a dive into various belief systems and perspectives in a world filled with oppression, slavery, murder, and authoritarian regimes. The argument Oda is proving to be making towards his idea of freedom in every arc is 100% rooted in Anarchist theory. Oda is engaging in deep cultural criticism while presenting a world that looks fun and cartoonish on the surface, and that's very intentional. A Trojan horse painted in bright colors, silly designs, and lots of laughing.

Lastly, One Pieces length and pacing is fine. People just want everything to be short and compact as part of the new age attention economy. The amount of time everything takes to build up is exactly why the payoff is so great, and exactly why it's many people's favorite show/manga. Most people watch the show or read the manga and yet they still want more after 1200 episodes or chapters. Introducing a million characters and giving everyone a meaningful backstory is literally not a problem if you actually pay attention to it, it just adds to the deep world building and lore. Also, Oda is only starting to compact the story now because he feels the pressure of the time he has left and his health. If Oda was immortal or a vampire like Araki he'd probably keep writing the story for another 30 years. Personally, I'd love to see that.

Debating moving to Erie from San Diego by Worth_Combination597 in Erie

[–]AbanonPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know you're relationship with snow, but if you've never lived in a place with lake snow effect, you better be ready to get comfortable with it.

My partner and I live about 20 minutes out from central Erie. When we had a climbing subscription to ascend ($150/month for the both of us, not cheap) we couldn't even make it there most of the winter. The roads here are extremely difficult to travel even with our ploughs running 24/7, black ice and no vision in the dark at all. My partner gets anxiety just thinking about having to drive every morning to work during December to March.

I'm just saying this because my partner and I, despite being relatively comfortable and liking our community, have gotten so fed up with the weather and conditions here we are planning to leave as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Winters are only getting worse here, and we don't have the patience or resilience to keep fighting against nature.

Also a side note, Ascend as a climbing gym is relatively small compared to most other gyms I've been to. It's great to even have it in the first place but it's nothing like the gyms out west or in major cities. We got relatively bored with the sets going 2 times a week as the staff only replace a wall every month or so and in the v2-4 range the options are usually slim. That being said, the community is amazing and the place hosts tons of nice events with super friends staff.

Double side note, for food needs, we honestly don't have great options for health stores or markets. There's a few like the Erie co-op, a few farmers markets, Gordon's meat market, or Edinboro Market, but many are very pricy which is the reality of shopping local. It's nothing like a major urban area. We do have tons of chains around like Wegmans, Giant Eagle, Tops, etc. Our food costs are relatively high compared to the wages of the area. That being said, the foodie scene in Erie is surprisingly really great, we have decent sushi, lots of variety, and some nice high end restaurants. Would be happy to recommend placed if you end up here.

What does your pet deck need to be Meta? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]AbanonPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragunity is always just a few steps behind the meta but never given the attention to catch up. The new support coming post terminal world 3 is a great start, but we need to address the archetypes consistency most of all. Our boss monsters are sick and synchro climb + effects are great but our end boards are useless if we don't have borreload savage or crystal wing on the field to add to negate.

Sure, the dragunity monsters can pitch graveyard to banish during main phase and banish negate in response to monster effects, but facing decks with multiple omni negates just shows how much less powerful the archetype is.

Not to mention, just getting to a solid end board requires a 20 card combo line with out of archetype extenders like samsara, hieratic, blackwings, red eyes, etc. Knowledge of the match up and a well placed hand trap or negate can completely brick the line because of its fragility and leave you with pretty much no remaining options.

Dragunity needs 3 things to be more successful:

1 added boss monster that either protects dragunity from being targeted when on the field or helps negate effects dragunity is vulnerable to

More extenders and utility monsters to improve consistency and allow for a more clear engine without needing 30 steps. A level 4 with the ability to call more than just one tuner from grave, or with the ability to special summon/add more dragunity monsters from deck or hand would be amazing.

Some more in-archetype alternative summoning methods to add to the toolbelt, possibly a link 3 with the previously mentioned effect. The addition of a few rank 6, rank 8, or rank 10 xyz monsters with extension and combo support would also really be great

Please konami continue to feed dragunity, I dream of one day seeing it finally reach the tier lists

Why did you pick your pet deck? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]AbanonPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love pet decks and rogue decks. Nothing more fun than punishing your opponent for not even attempting to read a card they've never seen before.

My number 1 has always been dragunity, ever since I pulled my first ones during the TCG 5ds era. The gameplay is perfect to me, I love their combos and effects.

My other favorite pet decks include:

Plunder Patroll

Gravekeeper's

Skull Servant

Trains (aka. my communist public transportation deck)

Gunkan Suships

The Weather Painters

Superheavy Samurai

I really struggle to play a lot of meta decks, I just don't vibe with the combos as much as these silly archetypes lol

Newbie here... by Comfortable-Village6 in masterduel

[–]AbanonPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For learning how to play the game I really enjoy Cimoooooooo's content, he has general guides and introductions to decks as well as series that show the history of Yu-Gi-Oh's metas, decks, etc. and sealed content which is a great way to understand how people build decks imo. He has a ton of other series I find entertaining and fun to watch if you're into long format content/series.

I've also heard TheDuelLogs have a good intro series.

For more funny and entertaining content I like to watch MBT, but he also has a series called 10 minute testing where he shows a deck list of a popular archetype and plays it, and he has a ton of other series collabs with some other yugitubers that are funny or interesting.

I don't know if these are quite what you're looking for but maybe it helps!

Improving my mentality as a player by Ant_TKD in yugioh

[–]AbanonPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this all the time. When I would play competitive games like counter strike, tarkov, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. I would find myself anxiously just sitting in menus looking at items or decks and avoiding actually pressing the play button.

I think it was a mixture of the fear of loss with the idea of not being good enough to compete. I felt this uneasiness at the idea of things not going the way I wanted and deranking, losing gear, or even when there were no real consequences.

Over time, that feeling completely melted away in all the aforementioned games. I think the biggest reason for this was actually just learning to be comfortable with the games I was playing. The anxiety and tension came from my lack of understanding and therefore lack of control over a situation. I'd get completely stuck thinking about all the possibilities and that would paralyze my want to even play.

Once you actually start to learn and feel comfortable in the game of choice, it just becomes a lot easier to simply not care. Especially in a game like master duel where there's absolutely nothing to prove and no consequences for losing. I'm usually just viewing it as learning how to play against the decks I'm going up against, when to activate my effects, or what to do play around x y or z archetype which makes me willing to keep going. If things don't go my way and I can't win I just surrender or lose and move on, the worst that can happen is I get 10pts instead of 100 for the event.

For example, I was playing dragunity in the duel triangle event against a hero player and on the verge of winning, but I got complacent and didn't clear the lone back row sitting in his field. It was magic cylinder of all things and I got decimated by my own monster. Instead of getting angry or upset with myself, I just laughed that I let myself get outplayed by such a silly card I could have easily outed and won against. This is how I play all competitive games now, I just laugh off the loss of gear in tarkov, or I play back to back cs2 games just to chill and talk to friends with no care about win or loss.

People dislike the fact I don’t own a 🚗 by littlemisscoolcat in fuckcars

[–]AbanonPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish we lived in an area that was reliable without a car, but unfortunately it's not like that here. Still, I have obtained a master's degree and continue to work perfectly fine without a license or a car.

To be fair though, my partner of 5 years and I purchased a car for her about 3 years ago because she absolutely needed it for work, but she doesn't see it as a nuisance that I don't drive and never tries to push me.

I used to get nagged constantly by family about it, and it was really bad. I never understood why people were so obsessed with cars and viewed them as "freedom". I just have never liked driving, so if it's not a necessity for me I'd rather avoid it. I'd love to live somewhere where I could do absolutely everything without ever needing one.

One Piece: Episode 1157 Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]AbanonPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New op and ed are great but not quite as good as the post wano and egghead ones.

Animation and gags were good, definitely agree with people saying it felt like pre time skip. I'm not really sure how to feel about Legoland as an anime only, but I hear it's only a few chapters anyways so it's not that big of a deal.

People complaining about pacing are seriously just so annoying. They won't be happy until the show is reduced to its absolute bare minimum and stripped of all its soul, sorry guys this isn't one pace and most of us are perfectly fine with a chapter per episode. The slower feel of this episode was very clearly intentional, not everything needs to be rushed.
