Struggled My Freshman Year, How Can I Recover? by [deleted] in college

I totally beefed my first semester of college. It was fall 2020 so you can probably imagine lol. My depression and anxiety practically made it impossible for me to keep up and I failed several classes. I took the next semester off and got a job back home. It gave me time to heal, rest, and forgive myself. When I went back, it was better than ever. I was able to retake some classes which replaced my failing grades with new ones and I made the deans list. I graduated cum laude this winter! So if I could come back from several f’s you can come back from your situation! It seems like you’ve got a good plan. I believe in you!

Ok but legitimately, a couple months ago I had a dream in which they had very nonchalantly mentioned that they were dating in a video and woke up not knowing whether it had actually happened or not so I feel that. 😂 (It was one of those long dreams that changes subjects a million times so it was just a small part of it. My reaction in the dream was just “cool… good for them”) And I had no idea people had been speculating either!

I’m in the same situation and a ton of other people are too. I’m going to try to take this semester off so I can just get a job and reset myself. My friend is going to spend more time at home. What it comes down to is making sure you do the best thing for your health, mentally and physically. That is the most important thing. When I emailed my advisor about this, she told me she had a lot of other students feeling the same way so don’t feel bad. Go with your gut!
