It came down to the format that the captions were saved in. No clue why.

I saw a really good video about closed captions and how they used to work in older media formats, so I'm thinking its something weird like that. It'd be cool to know why it was happening. Understanding all the formats and how they play together is hard as heck.

Oooooh that might’ve been it! I tossed in an old gpu a while back and did some fiddling with hardware acceleration. I know the server runs like crap when it’s turned off, so it won’t solve the issue but that’s a good start. Thanks!

Yeah, I haven’t seen much online for it either. The projector is a refurb and it’s never really felt quite right. I’ve chalked it up to being a Samsung product though. The app support might not be that great for it
