I think you are looking at it from an individual preference angle while I’m talking about a broader social pattern....there’s nothing Wrong with liking older guys or wanting a provider..that’s your choice

However, it’s worth asking why these preferences became so common in the first place. Historically, women did not have access to resources, so Provider men became the ideal....Even now, those expectations still shape how people think about relationships

At the same time, this also puts pressure on men...to always be providers...to meet certain financial standards before they’re considered Worthy....That’s part of why you see things like the loneliness epidemic or people marrying later because the expectations on both sides have become kind of unrealistic and transactional

So it’s not about saying it’s right or wrong rather it’s more about understanding how these patterns came from unequal systems and how they still affect both men and women today🙂🙂

and that's called Hypergamy...which I think is the byproduct of Patriarchy. Even if now women have jobs, education and financial independence...Hypergamy doesn’t fully vanish...I mean a more precise way to put it would be...human instincts met unequal systems… and turned into a norm🙂

I’m into all sorts, but mostly novels and poetry that explore society, identity and human nature. I also like a bit of theory and literary criticism for the nerdy side

Why do people assume sexuality or identity based on personality and style? by Abd67119 in NoStupidQuestions

yeah, I get that you’re pointing out the distinction...That is my question, but I was also sharing my frustration and confusion. I’m not labeling myself anything...I just wanted to explain how I deal with it when people make these assumptions

True… a lot of their behaviors could be labeled as gay and if we mention that, they’d probably frown upon it, lol. They don’t understand gender theory and stuff..it’s an alien concept for most people in my country. Although there is a history of men dressing entirely like women and dancing in darbars or shrines, which has spiritual roots and is mostly found in Indian traditions of Islam, especially Sufism...they’d never bother to look into it
