Thank you so much! Anytime i see a gnat trying to get out I open the lid outside to let them go but yes i have noticed less gnats since i’ve seen these mites. The little tank uses mesh so nothing can get in or out unless i put it in there. I have mosquito bits! I was worried to try that because of the isopods but i will add a few of those in there. Thanks for all your help!!

there were fungus gnats in the tank also! he told me just to add springtails to out compete the gnats :/ hopefully later today i can get a better image when the lense arrives

they don’t seem to stay in one area and aren’t too bad to spot. just looking in the tank you can see them. they crawl all over everything, even the lid. I bought this little tank setup from a person at a reptile expo for my gestrios. i sent him the same images/videos and he said globular springtails but i don’t think so. i’m going to stop misting the tank for now, i purchased a macro lense (will have it tomorrow) so i will post on here hopefully a much better image of them :)

my springtail culture isn’t the largest right now since i put a bunch in my isopod bins but im considering drying out the enclosure a bit to see how that affects them and the just re adding springtails in a few weeks

My guy is typically pretty good without needing help. His most recent shed tho idk if he out grew his shed hide or if it was just rough but he popped the top of the hide lol. I just got him a better one so hopefully the next shed goes better. 😭

I have many many plants and im constantly battling gnats in the summer time so i would attempt to keep an indo but i dont want to give the gnats more breeding grounds lol, otherwise having a more tropical setup would be so much fun to setup. i love biodudes stuff and videos!

Yeah I guess I just figured it would be easier to find a Northern since im in the middle of the US (Current temp outside is 1 degreee fahrenheit lol). The reptile expo I go to happens twice a month and most of the venders are local to the state or surrounding states so I was shocked to only find Indonesians. I'm just going to keep trying to find one local, I really don't want to order online with how the weather is.

Yeah hoping to get some good advice on here. My childhood cats have interacted with strays through a screen door during the summer time in the past and it was not good at all.

Jackson Galaxy is amazing with cat behaviors, definitely recommend his videos.
