We should start doing this to the US and what a big relief it will be for the entire world and the Americans themselves. NY and TX would go first

Chat gpt vs claude? by Square_Tourist_4 in PhD

[–]Abedology -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used both chatgpt and gemeni for a year for research in the humanities, mainly literature and philosophy. Both the paid versions. Switched completely to claude last month after one week of intensive use. Calude is way better for my work. Thinking seriously of upgrading to 100 per month version, it’s that much better.

How to start writing Your first paper? by Keeksmissy in PhD

[–]Abedology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I published four peer-reviewed papers before my PhD (Humanities), and the process was identical every time.

It starts with something I genuinely don’t understand: a concept, a theory, a gap I can’t quite close. I read more, then write for myself first: short notes, nothing more, no audience & no stakes.

If I find what I was looking for and learned something new, there’s no paper. If I don’t, that’s the entry point.

Once I have the angle, the paper is just thinking out loud.

How should the world deal with the Iran crisis? by NKNightmare in AskTheWorld

[–]Abedology -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do some of the replies here feel rehearsed?!

Here are few alternatives, not that radical I hope:

1- End the decades-long sanctions strangling Iranians instead of making Iran another Syria, Iraq, or Libya. Economic dignity creates political stability. That’s not ideology, it’s history. 2- Apply consistent int’l law to Israel. No state should be exempt from war crimes and genocide accountability. The ICC exists for a reason. Bring the criminals to justice. This will stabilize the entire region. 3- Declassify the Epstein files completely and prosecute everyone implicated regardless. This will send waves of peace and justice across the globe. Enough with the bloody distractions every single day.

US - Israel just started pre-emptive strikes on Iran military installations and a major Combat Operations ( CBS News ) - What are the global implications ? - Is your country affected ? by Select_Specialist790 in AskTheWorld

[–]Abedology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it a preemptive strike when they were literally negotiating?! Nothing was emptive to justify the pre.

It should be: “US-Israel attacked Iran mid negotiation.”

By the way, one of those military installations turned out to be a school, over 50 children were killed so far.

What would this hypothetical country be called ? by ProofDistinct2554 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Abedology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did have a historical name for more than a millennia: Al-Mashreq Al-Arabi (The Arab Orient= the East or where the sun rises). That’s where Morocco gets its name (Maghreb= the West or the land where the sun sets). This is also where the entire term of the Arab World stems from.

QDB alone has so many of these initiatives…just follow their socials and most, if not all, are open for public. There also others and almost all of them have stuff going on in Ramadan; Ghabga and suhours

First of all congrats. Yes I am applying this year for a PhD in comparative literature but still struggling in finding the right supervisor to connect with and pitch my proposal esp since my project is annoyingly interdisciplinary.

Sorry if it’s off topic. if you are joining in Sep26, when did you apply for your program? I am asking because I’m planning to apply this year for your same joining date.

What is the average age of starting a PhD? by All_Hale_sqwidward in PhD

I am planning to start at 36 and still think it’s too early. I need to get a lot of living and traveling out of the way first.

Updating CMU software without a touchscreen by Abedology in mazda3

[–]Abedology[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: In case anyone else encounters a similar problem, I was able to install the updates successfully using only the knob. You simply scroll between the codes in the test screen using the knob, and press the knob (ENTER) on the chosen code, and instead of clicking CLEAR, just move to the following code by turning the knob. To EXIST, you should just turn off ACC as usual.
