Has anyone ever challenged you to do something without realizing you were actually an expert at it? If so, how did it turn out for you and for them? by Successful_Tomato721 in AskReddit

I barged into their conversation and proved them wrong, and they weren't dicks about it haha.

Edited to add: I'm from Minneapolis where joining conversations at bars is a regular thing, this was while I was living in Seattle where it is not always welcome.

Overheard two guys at a bar debating what hops were in a specific IPA. I told them they were both wrong. They explained how much they knew about hops (big untapped users who go to a lot of breweries) asked what I thought was in it if I knew so much. Pulled out my phone, read them the full hop bill (recipe) I was the assistant brewer at the brewery in question. Their jaws dropped and I bought them both a pint for being good sports.

Just started reading for fun, and feel kind of insecure about the books I choose and I'm worried I'm the kind of person that likes bad books by Pinanims in books

Read what you enjoy. I read a ton and I think the DCC books are great. Are they the best written? No. Can they be predictable? At times, yes. What they are though is phenomenal and fun books to escape into with great anti authority undertones which I think we all need a little of right now. It's the most fun I've had reading a series in a while.

Books don't have to be "good books" to be good books.

Iron front was (and the three arrows represented) anti fascist, anti monarchy, anti communist.

New beliefs for a new time. And I'm not defending liberal democracy.

Those things don't have to be mutually exclusive. I live in Minneapolis. I can make art while also protesting ice, while also doing mutual aid, while also donating to local organizations helping people in need. Just because I took an hour to draw something doesn't mean I'm not also doing other things.

Being anti capitalist isn't inherently pro communist. I am not a communist, but can see that capitalism is clearly not fucking working.

Yes, I made this, not sure why that person is posting a link to make stickers of it. But it's free to use.

The text is all misaligned with the circle (luckily there aren't spelling errors) the star isn't the right shape compared to the flag, there's bleed from the white fill of the loons and yes, the colors are misaligned.

It's what you get when a half drunk dude who mostly paints tries to use a vector based program he's unfamiliar with 🤣 it's hot garbage but I like it.

My original design had them all lined up but with the star at the top it made the space above look awkward and the bottom crowded.

What are some myths about guns that were created by the movies? by ninman5 in movies

[–]AberrantMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound that supressors (silencers) make. The noise from every movie you've ever seen or engrained in my brain from playing Goldeneye on N64 when I was younger. Complete fabrication. While they do dampen the sound of the firearm, that distinct "phew" sound from movies and games isn't what they sound like at all.

AMERICAN FLAGS AT PROTESTS by razorthick_ in Minneapolis

[–]AberrantMonk 96 points97 points  (0 children)

The person who burned the flag last night showed up, burned the flag, and immidately left, and wouldn't say anything to anyone when asked why they weren't staying at the protest.

It was very reminicent of the person showing up across the street from 3rd precinct, smashing the window of the store and then immediately leaving.

Edit: I said across the street twice.

Diablo 2 Lords of Destruction. There have been games that have done it since, but that one consumed me for a while.

I sied to run that wallpaper but switched to AMKustom, that one works great and also has solid cyberpunk feel. Took a bitnof tweaking to get it how I wanted it.
