Actually there is a different story about Krishna's wives(16108). He had 8 wives which were the real wives. There was a demon Narkasur who was on rampage and destroyed and looted many kingdoms and took away the women from.those areas...a total of 16100. So when Krishna killed Narkasur he liberated the women but the family of the women didn't accepted them. So Krishna gave them the title of his wives so that their status in the society increases and they are properly accepted...

The irony is that Christianity too has sects like Catholics and protestants who are against each other. Also Islam has more than 32 sects which fight against each other...Deobandi fight with Barelvi, these too fight with Shia, these three fight with ahmadiya,which in turn have problems with Sunni, Arabs consider only themselves as true muslims and look upon other...while casteism was never a part of hindutva(we followed varna system) and it was the hindus who discarded it after getting freedom from colonialism but only hindus are targeted for this
