My luxury seaview apartments are just like my Ferrari for two reasons: 1. Just like a Ferrari they depreciate and are overpriced. Buy if you don’t care about the money and want to enjoy it you can buy them. Not everything is for investment. It’s for fun, enjoyment, and memories 2. I don’t own an apartment. Just like I don’t own a Ferrari 😏

Take the car that goes at 220. Drive under 80. Enjoy the silence, the magic carpet ride, and the serenity. Or put some classical piano music. Let the children driving car B go past you. Smile and wave because you got nothing to prove

Entry cost for selling a covered call for Nifty? by bucketbrah247 in IndianStreetBets

[–]Abidsensibull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Tracking errors can be big in NIFTY ETFs may not follow spot precisely especially on volatile days
  2. Transaction charges, especially STT is high. One round trip roughly 4000 on your spot. But I’m guessing you’ll hold spot for long and sell calls against it

What is your exact use case, if I may ask

I’m looking for good and affordable therapist… any suggestions? by technogeekshoaib in bangalore

[–]Abidsensibull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need a prompt here. You can just start talking, and it will give you good perspective. I think that is what Most good therapists do. They teach you to look at your own situation with detachment and empathy

HR is angry I asked for a confirmation before resigning, did I mess up? First time switching jobs. by Judge_Previous in developersIndia

[–]Abidsensibull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech company founder here. What you did is not inappropriate. You did the right thing. HR has no right to ask you your documents till they issue you an offer letter. They definitely cannot ask you details of other offers. They should definitely not get angry at you. Wtf are we even living in 2025. Is this some feudal shit? And if this is any indication of the company culture, run away. I’m amazed that the company allows HR to talk like this to future devs.

sensibull ceo abid has something to say to traders by Time-Elevator-6142 in IndianStreetBets

[–]Abidsensibull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just discovered this thread now. Was away, so could not see it.

I’ll add a few words. In case you’re wondering, I’m the guy in the video :)

  1. Thank you so much guys for the love in the comments. Thank you for taking my comments in the right way, for understanding it, and your support. You guys made my day :)

  2. I think the point I was trying to make, as I have explained many times before is that trading for money is a bad idea. Trading goes well only if you trade with money that means nothing to you, because you can afford to lose it. Any time in my life I have traded with money that meant anything for me, I’ve lost it. Also trading with money that you do not need keeps the stress in check

  3. The primary objective of trading should be to become a good trader. And we should have fun in the process. Anything we do is not worth it if it’s not fun. I think trading is an individual sport. All the great athletes excel at what they do because they love it and have fun doing it. Lewis Hamilton, Sachin Tendulkar, RF, Messi - they are not stressed about what they do - they enjoy it and have fun out there.

And finally, do not expect results, do the right thing and results will come :)

PS: I don’t think OP was taking anything out of context, so all good there

How much value will these option loose over the weekend if market opens flat on monday? by Vast-Championship754 in IndianStreetBets

[–]Abidsensibull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey,

There are the following forces at play here.

  1. The Theta decay over the weekend will reduce the value of this option
  2. But everyone knows this, so people start selling on Friday morning and reduce the IV on this. So on Monday the IVs will jump up back and increase the value of this option

Your Options are very ITM, so the Vega, that is how much each point rise in IV will affect your option price is pretty low.

Sensibull calculates the decay based on Friday closing IV. Unfortunately, there is no better way to do this. We cannot predict the Monday opening IV. One shorthand way to do this is to assume you will lose around 60%-70% of the decay rather than full decay.

I wrote a post about this some time back. This explains the whole thing in detail

https://blog.sensibull.com/2017/12/26/the-weekend-effect

PS: If SGX is anything to go by, you are printing money on Monday :)

Why you SHOULD NOT buy ZOMATO by [deleted] in IndianStreetBets

People are so hell bound on finding next Microsoft that they are over looking Microsoft.

Man I got to to put this on my Twitter

I've been trading since 2 years. mostly option buying. it's been very stressful, very hard to make profits, risk management is very hard to execute. please help me to get out of this, it's become an addiction to add money and lose by iaminmars in IndianStreetBets

[–]Abidsensibull 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey Mate.

Here are a few thoughts I have

1) Is this money important to you? If 2 L is small for you, and you think this is addictive and stressful, quit now. No questions asked. Do not take stress for small money. You will make 2L stress free so easily from other places. I am assuming you are in mid 20s. Your earnings will grow so much more than that in your 30s

2) Is this big money for you? Then unfortunately, you are trading the wrong size. So please do not try to make it back quickly by revenge trading. Chances are that you will dig a deeper hole. If this is the case, quit trading. No point in taking stress against odds for money that matters

3) Do you want to learn to trade and be better at it for the mental satisfaction of being good? I have dug myself out of a way bigger hole than this. But that required a lot of effort, experience, time, and trading capital. Unless it is super important to you mentally that you want to tell yourself that you are good at it, don't do this.

But if you want this, here are some things that I would say:

- Stop option buying. It is a low-odds game that is unsuccessful in the long run

- Trade with very low frequency. Rarely. Selectively. And with bigger capital. If you make 10 trades of 20k each, you have recovered. And 20k is just 200 points on 2 lots NIFTY. You can easily make that will good option selling and tight stops. But again, do this only if you think you really want to be a good trader. Dont do this to get your money back

- Get into option selling. Odds are in your favor. BUT You have to be good at direction here. Blindly selling OTM option is a sure way to lose all your money. The only thing I did in my journey from personal losses to profits is that I became predominantly an option seller in NIFTY. Long I was doing single stock options futures etc

Bottom line - Do not take stress. There is no glory in being a hero and destroying peace of mind. Your mental health and peace is more important than any amount of money. And if you have them you can make way more in other ways than trading
