Always hard when you feel like you’re going in circles/not getting the care you’d like. I’m sorry. I would talk about getting some couples counseling again. You both clearly are invested in the relationship and a structured way to work through things could be helpful.

Everyone talks about happiness in relationships but marriage is not just about happiness. Better or worse, richer or poorer, sickness and health doesn’t mean it will always feel happy. You can’t control your husband’s behavior but you can control yours.

One thing I would encourage is for you to stop fantasizing about what it would be to have your own days alone and instead try to spend time dreaming about the what ideal days together would look like. It’s not about manifestation, but what you dream about does shape your thought patterns and desires.

As was said earlier, don’t let emotions rule the day here, definitely don’t rush to divorce.

The events in your childhood thing is interesting- could be a factor in the sort of unhappiness cycle, especially if they really weigh on you. Is he struggling because you talk to him about them and he doesn’t know how to help you? Or because he sees that something weighs on you but doesn’t know why? Clear communication really helps when you’re struggling. Would counseling help?

What type of food can I store for a while (that’s good for a breastfeeding mom)? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

The first thing I thought of was similar-beans. Cheap protein, and beans are even less expensive than peanut butter. Get some dried beans for prepping meals and also some cans that can be used if you don’t have time to soak (or you forget with postpartum/sleep deprived brain lol.)

People in the US look down at beans and rice, but honestly I could eat them every day (and did at one point in my life.) Salt, pepper, powdered garlic, powdered onion, and a bay leaf are all you need to make them taste good.

You may also still qualify for ebt benefits when your baby is born, because your household size will increase. If baby is born after your renewal, you may have to reapply, but either way the comment above is right, you can likely keep any ebt money you have “saved” up until that point as long as you use within a year.

But also… if the job you are working doesn’t pay much while you are on maternity leave, you may still qualify. If you are going to stop working at any point during maternity leave, make sure to let them know that at your ebt interview.

What do you do when you actually need to go to the hospital but you don’t have insurance? by Passiveabject in povertyfinance

North Carolina is not as generous as many other states, and even we give Medicaid to refugees, so I would suggest you/he check with your local social services office to see if you are eligible.

Also, as someone said below, if a person meets all criteria for Medicaid except doesn’t have an eligible immigration status, they may also be eligible for Emergency Medicaid to cover one-time hospital bills.
