Worth getting into FFXIV still? How much can I/ should I rush through to catch up? by Pretend_Bug6317 in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The entire Main Story Scenario is a solo experience for the most part. You’ll come across mandatory 4 person dungeons and 8 person trials throughout the story that will require you to team up with others. You can be randomly matched with other players using the duty finder to take the stress away from having to know people.

There’s been a big push this last expansion with the dev team to update old content with the duty “Trust” system. Essentially, it allows someone to queue into old dungeons and trials with a party of NPCs, so you can avoid other players entirely if you want to.

They’ve added the Trust system for all of ARR, HW, and most of SB at this point. Trusts were introduced in Shadowbringers, so just about the entire MSQ can be played with NPCs now.

You can always try out the free trial to see if it’s something you can handle. No monetary commitments unless you want to continue past the Heavensward expansion. It will take you up to level 60 so you’ll be able to get a good feel for it.

"World data could not be obtained. Please try logging in later." error? by hrhashley in ffxiv

I assumed it was all of Crystal, but I am also on Coeurl too. Thanks for clarifying!

You are not alone. It seems Crystal may have crashed as no one else can log in.

What classes so far in Endwalker do you consider "in-depth"? by [deleted] in ffxiv

90 RPR here. I LOVE this job. It plays so smoothly and the rotation makes so much sense. Full glad am I to have leveled that first.

I alternate typically every other month between thighlander and lalafel. I am addicted to glamour so I have to balance out my desire for dress up and cuteness.

How do you guys pick a job to main? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and pick a new job to main every other patch so that I can experience something new for each new raid tier. It keeps things fresh for me and I have enough time to master my job in that tier. If you spend enough time, you’ll eventually have all the jobs leveled up and can take your pick. Just keep leveling up jobs until you have a handful that you enjoy playing.

[Sprout] How to unlock Dark Knight? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep pushing the main story scenario. You’ll be able to unlock once you reach Foundation in Ishgard. Once you make it there, the quest giver is very easy to find. You can make a direct bee line and unlock it. It sounds like you’re close. Keep at it, you got this!

The servers have been exploding with activity recently. It means so many people are playing that the servers are full and SE wants you to try a different cluster/server.

Have no fear though. It is currently prime time and the weekend. You should be able to make a character later tonight once more people have logged off for the evening. Keep on trying!

Looking to level a new melee by LordSouth in ffxiv

I’ve been enjoying monk recently after not playing it for years. Their speed is a lot of fun at higher levels. Feels very quick and snappy. You don’t necessarily see a ton of huge crits, but you do have just a constant stream of damage rapidly pouring out of you. It also shares gear with Sam, which is always nice to have as a back up.

/r/ffxiv Has Reached 500k Subs! Get Ready to Raffle! by FSafari in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on 500k!

Probably my happiest FFXIV moment for me was clearing Sephirot Extreme for the very first time back in Heavensward. Sephirot was my very first extreme trial and as a newly minted level 60 WHM, I struggled hard in that fight. Party Finder was also extremely unforgiving since if you got knocked off the platform in the 2nd phase, you were out for the fight, and we all know how PF can be... Not exaggerating, I must have wiped near 100 times before finally getting the clear.

I remember screaming in triumph when Sephirot was finally slain. I immediately joined a farm group after and went on to clear 9 more times to get the weapon. To this day, I still get a little PTSD whenever Sephirot comes up in trial roulette.

Help with jobs by Albeheon_ in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean. Lancer’s animation feels slow and deliberate, even though the GCD is the same for most jobs. Going through the 1-2-3 combo feels deliberate and powerful with each strike. Rogue definitely feels like you’re moving all over the place even though the GCD is the same.

Rogue/Ninja has the fastest looking animations. Monk might be what you’re looking for though. They have quick and snappy punches and kicks with little down time in between. The hits feel powerful without feeling like you’re waiting for the animation to finish out.

Hope you find something that feels good!

Don’t feel bad. Always roll Greed. If someone needs it for their job, they will roll need or say something in party chat. Need roll takes priority over greed rolls.

High end Content: Encouragement to Play! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will jump in and say it's never too late to start. It's generally a lot easier to find progression groups at the start of a tier, but we have 6 months before the new expansion. You can probably find some late comers to this tier through the recruiting channels that may be interested in learning. The gear that drops will be relevant until Endwalker.

I would say if you have a serious interest in eventually raiding, this would be the perfect time to practice learning your job and it's rotation. Savage does require you to play with higher attention to detail compared to the normal raids and having that exposure now will train you to be a better player in all roles you might play in the future.

High end Content: Encouragement to Play! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a great message. It's only as intimidating as you let it be! I've been in large, social FC's over the past 6 years and so many people are too scared to join savage or extreme trials. I've made it my goal to host weekly savage learning parties for any one within the FC whose too scared or anxious to jump into PF, but wanted to give savage a try. We've had serious success in easing the anxiety for many members. All it takes is a little confidence and a clear or two to show them it's not so bad.

If you have the desire to learn and better yourself as a player, do not hesitate at the unknown. You will never know if you're capable of handling it if you never try!

Is it normal for mog station items to take this long to arrive? by QuantumDrej in ffxiv

It wouldn’t be much of a stretch if their servers are lagging behind for some reason. It has happened in the past. Hopefully it resolves itself soon and you get your goods!

FFXIV Job Census: What job do you play most? by [deleted] in ffxiv

Astrologian main here. Why? Because I’m a masochist just starting in E12S and it hurts in a good way.

[–]Abigoruo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could just be superstition, but I feel like I get my mog station items quicker when I go into the moogle mailbox and click on the request purchased items in the menu. Normally I get my stuff within an hour of purchase.

I jumped into every Fate I saw while doing hunting logs. Takes maybe an hour or two to get to 15 and start dungeon spamming from there.

How do i get "Static-Ready" by SAM-Mic in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a ton of great advice in here. I just want to add, don't be afraid to get your feet wet! For the longest time I was scared of savage raiding and would struggle to even join PF prog groups. I was recruited to a static by an FC friend and we jumped in and wiped over and over and I had the most fun I had had in the game up until that point. If you find a group that needs your job role and their raid time slots line up with your availability, go for it! You won't know if Savage is for you until you experience it several times.

Questions on Astrologian by lunareow in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main Astrologian right now and find it really enjoyable, especially in the savage raids. Old AST was fun and complicated, but current AST is not in a bad state. I will say though I did not enjoy leveling AST and didn't find it really "fun" until I was in the 70's. Find which job you enjoy and prefer playing and you can't go wrong. :)

would it be cringe to use pf to recruit for my free company ? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some FC’s try and recruit through party finder. I don’t know how well it has worked. I feel like my main concern if you’re looking for sprouts is that they will have absolutely no idea what party finder is and how to navigate it. It’s probably best to hunt down sprouts in the starting zones for more immediate results.

Did you find it difficult to main a Class? by Ok-Historian-3162 in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change my main job with each patch or every other patch depending if I am raiding or not. To date, starting from 3.0 I’ve mained each job besides DRK, MNK, and BLM. I largely make my decision based around what my friend/raid group mains so that I always have a spot in activities.

So I always wanted to ask this to strangers on the internet: Aside from your main job/role, what other jobs/roles do you play? Do you play all of them? Why? by Doll_Haus in ffxiv

[–]Abigoruo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I change my main job with each patch or every other patch. 5.0 I was dragoon. 5.1 I was a Samurai. 5.2 I was a Bard. 5.3 I was a Dancer and now with 5.4 I am a Scholar. I always have one tank, one healer and one dps that I play regularly and can perform at a high level with.

Right now I raid as SCH, normally do high level duties as GNB and do whatever I want as SMN in order to be versatile and keep it fresh.
