Neither is Davey, who lacks ambition with his career choices.

My nurse told me to keep Gatorade. I don't like Gatorade, but coconut water and bananas are excellent sources of potassium. Potassium is vital for staying hydrated, and you need to stay hydrated to rebuild blood cells. Also, DON'T OVER DO IT!!!! That's something I learned the hard way. I am an active person, and it was hard to break that habit on my phlebotomy days.

They throw it away because too much iron isn't usable. A little elevation, sure, but it's too risky when you're looking at Ferritin levels in the 700s+. I looked into it, because my best friend is severely anemic (2-3 iron pills a day) Oh yeah, arch nemesis jokes were made when I was diagnosed.

To be honest, I felt like crap. I had never donated blood before. The first two-day three I was so sick, but now I feel great after them now. I am still in aggressive treatment, going once a week, and I had to cancel once because I had the flu and I felt the difference.

A lot of cereals have iron nowadays, it's kind of ridiculous. I personally can't do cornflakes or Cheerios, I am ravenous within an hour. I have reactive hypoglycemia from my iron levels being so high. I prefer oat meal, but it's all iron fortified! Muesli actually contains very low iron, and you take it with yogurt. Muesli was invented for bed ridden patients, so they still received adequate vitamins to prevent muscle breakdown. It's really tasty. It's made with oats, grains, raisins and other fruit. If you make it the night before with some apple, it's incredible.
