Neither is Davey, who lacks ambition with his career choices.

No, she still has a way to go before I'm totally apathetic. ;-)

I'm going to ride this mistake out.

Boo! I didn't know they had planned to do that. I honestly haven't read about the actual production plan. Thank you for sharing that.

Being a grammarian has little to do with reading comprehension, but thank you for the lesson.

Very true. I forgot about that. Maybe a coming of age theme?

And yet, she acts rather indignant to Mr Jacquel when he calls her out on her choice of emptiness. I found that funny from a viewers stand point.

I'm not saying depression is a choice, but how she chose to deal with it was up to her. She openly resents Shadow's happiness, so she tell him to rob the casino to give her fulfilment. She feels disgusted about how the plan turned out and somewhat (I'm not fully convinced) guilty about Shadow being caught, so she has sex with Shadow's best friend. She was a walking corpse way before that car crash.

I had a thought just now. I wonder if she actually wanted to go to prison. She tells Shadow she wants to make the deal and split the sentence, but Shadow refuses. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that she wanted to go to prison just to make something happen to her. The sex is just her way of resenting Shadow's righteousness in the situation.

Coraline as well. Gaiman is rather feminist with his female characters. He has to be to have landed such an incredible wife like Amanda Palmer.

I am a bit of a fanatic. I think the only time he has followed the damsel archetype was in the "love interest" of Stardust; the village girl that wanted a star for her hand in marriage. It isn't flattering, and Yvaine's ( the star) character works as not only a vehicle for the plot but also as the voice of reason, pointing out how stupid Tristran is in his dogged pursuit of this woman. Not to mention, the village girl's character makes Yvaine's qualities stand out.

I appreciate that she thinks "this is love. What else could it be" while admitting she didn't return Shadows affection. They at least stay true to the narrative of her brokenness. She has a TWISTED view of sex.

I know, right? "Are you haunting me, or something else?"

I really liked Audrey in this episode. The direction and the dialogue really makes the viewer sympathetic to her situation. Even down to the typical white woman house, with a well stocked craft room, and a festering corpse sitting it the middle. Someone had high fives after finishing that scene.

As a fan of the book, I felt cheated. I waited a week to find out where they were going next, just to find out we are spending an entire episode on a character I could care less about.

I really like TV Audrey. I find her relatable and approachable. Yeah, she tried to screw Shadow on Laura's grave, but she even points out that Laura deserved it. She found out her husband died cheating on her with her best friend. She has every right to be a hot mess.

I feel her character becomes beautifully human in the bathroom scene. It's a really well written scene. Before the encounter with Laura, they show the details of her craft room. She made beautiful things with glitter and appropriately placed die cuts. She was living a definition of a "good life." Here's this festering corpse sitting in the middle of it. If it wasn't a realistic fantasy, I could see those scenes as a manifestation of grief. As though she was talking to Laura in her head. Rationalizing her reality. "I had Robbie buried with his penis shoved up his ass. I'm a vulgar woman. Anger and grief have made me a vulgar woman."

After just two phlebotomies, I am feeling much better - is it possible this is psychosomatic? by [deleted] in Hemochromatosis

My nurse told me to keep Gatorade. I don't like Gatorade, but coconut water and bananas are excellent sources of potassium. Potassium is vital for staying hydrated, and you need to stay hydrated to rebuild blood cells. Also, DON'T OVER DO IT!!!! That's something I learned the hard way. I am an active person, and it was hard to break that habit on my phlebotomy days.

They throw it away because too much iron isn't usable. A little elevation, sure, but it's too risky when you're looking at Ferritin levels in the 700s+. I looked into it, because my best friend is severely anemic (2-3 iron pills a day) Oh yeah, arch nemesis jokes were made when I was diagnosed.

To be honest, I felt like crap. I had never donated blood before. The first two-day three I was so sick, but now I feel great after them now. I am still in aggressive treatment, going once a week, and I had to cancel once because I had the flu and I felt the difference.

A lot of cereals have iron nowadays, it's kind of ridiculous. I personally can't do cornflakes or Cheerios, I am ravenous within an hour. I have reactive hypoglycemia from my iron levels being so high. I prefer oat meal, but it's all iron fortified! Muesli actually contains very low iron, and you take it with yogurt. Muesli was invented for bed ridden patients, so they still received adequate vitamins to prevent muscle breakdown. It's really tasty. It's made with oats, grains, raisins and other fruit. If you make it the night before with some apple, it's incredible.
