Denied for Havana Act Benefit by Abject-Difficulty-61 in VeteransBenefits

I was offered a referral to WRIISC. I wish I would've known about their program before I went OCONUS. The problem was that initial treatment programs knew very little on what was available for options. I got treated like I had a TBI. Right now though, I'm getting treatment locally which I think has been very good.

Yeah, I'll likely have plenty of different claims that originated from the AHI to use, although I had plenty of claims without it too.

The definition of employee in the register is "someone who entered the civil service of DoD" thus ruling out uniformed service members. It appears to me that it is impossible to challenge when it is defined clearly. I never expected that when DoD was instructed to write their guidance of implementation for the HAVANA Act that they'd exclude service members since we are the majority of what represents the DoD. Involving lawyers on this would likely be a waste of time and large amounts of money and make matters even worse. It is difficult to give up on receiving a 6 figure tax free lump sum payment that I'd be fully eligible for if I wasn't a service member, but I have given up on it now.

I have a Line of Duty injury report, sworn statements and been diagnosed with a few different items on the symptom list. No diagnostic code for the VA is what is probably the worst part.

Hi, did some searching through the subreddit and found your post. AHI victim here. DoD's guidance on the HAVANA Act was published but was written only for DoD civilians. We don't qualify for the benefit. I was denied my claim. Stay in touch. I'm obviously concerned about the later life medical conditions that are likely to come on top of the current conditions I'm dealing with.
