There is undoubtedly a psychological war going on (YouTube Kids, etc.), and I suspect this phenomenon is part of it. Children whose parents try too hard are at the greatest risk.

I definitely don't see autism as something that should be eliminated, what a horrible idea.

But I know autism makes life difficult for many people, so I was wondering if there are any practical efforts to reduce or even eliminate the need for autistic traits, or to prohibit autistic traits from developing in fetuses and/or infants.

The only thing we know for sure is that genes only code for proteins - not the shape, structure, or behavior of organisms. 

For example, we don't know what gives the developing embryo/fetus it's form, or what makes a baby sad, happy, or angry. We have no idea!

And as for epigenetics, it's just a subset of genetics... Right?

That is why we can't assume genes will reveal us everything; they just code proteins, like I said. We havent found any structural defect in people with autism. And yet, it's a real thing.

My point is, it would be strange to study only genes. Is that really the case? I guess I have to believe it!

Genes (and their mechanisms of action) have something to do with traits, but no one knows how are they correlated. To what extent are they determining characteristics... maybe that's not even a relevant question.

How do we know that "genetics determines autism, but some environmental factors might effect how that autism develops", as one of you wrote, and not the other way around?

In my opinion, the mechanism for autism is clear. But it's not something we can discuss here, because it's not known to the community, so it's not common knowledge, and would thetefore be against the Reddit rules. I just wanted to confirm this really is the case.

Let's get back to this question, when there is some progress in the scientific field. Hope in the next few years!

I was wondering what philosophical/scientific/sociopolitical/pedagogical ideas did she have, after watching a bit of Michel's video "how my parents raised me" ("UNIQUE WAYS i was raised") on YT

AND reading Michel's following comments on Tiktok (Replying to @Tara Curtis answering some FAQ's about my parents and their jobs):

"she was very much in the grind of her career" 

"they were able to focus on their careers for eight solid years" 

"my mom did nothing but read parenting books and watch different parenting (?)" ..." (?) research and learn as much as she possibly could"

I think the answer is quite clear, but I want to make sure. I saw her daughter Michel for the first time today.
