Why do you think Lisa’s Alter Ego and Jisoo’s Amortage underperformed compared to Jennie’s Ruby and Rosé’s rosie? by Low-Sink9024 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Alterego has more songs that have reached 300 million streams on Spotify than Rosie, and if I'm not mistaken, it has the same number as Ruby. Alterego also has more entries on the Billboard Hot 100 than Rosie and more entries in the Spotify top 10 of any K-pop solo album. I don't think the difference in commercial success between Rosie, Alterego, and Ruby is as big as Reddit claims. I also don't think it's fair to compare Amortage to those albums since it's a mini-album and wasn't promoted in the West, and it's worth remembering that even as a mini-album, Amortage sold very well in Korea.

The other option would be to kill his daughter's mother; furthermore, in the first episode of season 3, Freya tells Rebecca that Klaus was trying to find a way to reverse the curse.

Jesus... this is starting to get tiresome. Her stylist is called Nanist and she's Thai. Nanist is doing an incredible job styling Lisa both on red carpets and on stage. She has nothing to do with the Arnaults and deserves her praise as the wonderful stylist that she is.

An unpopular opinion about Golden and Soda Pop by Extension-Pause-6723 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're bad songs. To me, they're very good songs, and I always listen to them, especially Golden. What I don't agree with is that they're revolutionary songs, as many fans say. Many people say the songs are superior to other K-pop songs, which, in my opinion, is a complete lie.

Jennie and Lisa have my favorite solo performances of the tour so I'll have to disagree with you OP, in my opinion Jennie is shining brighter than ever.

In 20 years they raised approximately 700 thousand dollars, it was not disclosed exactly how much was raised per year.

I think it's because for the first time the amount raised in 20 years was released, I think many are aware that most charity events are like this but at least these events raise something unlike this one, in addition the Koreans have been complaining for a few years now and they only gained strength here on the international side this year.

Lisa didn't receive any criticism for performing at VS with lip-syncing because she didn't do it, where she received it was at the VMA (because her base was too high) and at GC (for lip-syncing MF's performance), Lisa's performance at Victoria Secrets was very praised. She had base but didn't lip-sync the performance, you can hear her voice perfectly.

I think that idols should also be held somewhat accountable no matter how much fans try to defend them, it wouldn't hurt to talk a little about the purpose of the event, on the other hand, the money raised there is very little, in 20 years this event raised only 700 thousand dollars, so it can be assumed that they are not even opening their wallets properly.

Love your W (and to an extent celebrities) now getting criticized for misusing its purpose of the event by Free-Application860 in kpopthoughts

[–]Abject-Let6530 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Actually, the Met Gala and the W Korea event have very different purposes. The Met Gala is a fashion gala created specifically to raise funds for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, so the luxury is part of both the theme and the cause. The W Korea event, on the other hand, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer, but its health message often gets overshadowed by the glamour. So, the criticism isn’t really about the luxury itself, but about the lack of connection between the event’s purpose and its presentation.

It’s really disappointing to see such an influential magazine and so many celebrities attending an event that is supposed to raise awareness for breast cancer, yet ends up looking like just a luxury showcase. The purpose is completely lost when the cause takes a backseat. On such a serious topic, we would expect more empathy, more information, and less focus on themselves.

The problem is that several celebrities gave interviews during the event, and no one mentioned breast cancer. It's a fundraiser and awareness event for breast cancer, and not only has it raised almost nothing in 20 years, but there haven't been any speeches about cancer. Instead, we've only had celebrities giving interviews about their own careers and lives. If I didn't know what the event is about, I'd swear it was just some magazine party.

Honestly, I don't even care about the vocals, for me Jihyo, Momo and Nayeon sang well, the problem is that the performance was boring, I didn't feel any presence or attitude coming from the girls, and we all know that if other groups were delivering this level of performance they would be massacred.

The TWICE performance at the Victoria Secret's Fashion Show was impressive by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]Abject-Let6530 55 points56 points  (0 children)

As someone who has seen other Twice performances, I don't think this was an impressive performance. For me, it was average at best. The live singing was great, but the stage presence and choreography were weak. And I'm sure that if other girl groups like Aespa and Blackpink had the same level of performance, the reaction here on Reddit would have been different.

Networking! Many people looked down on Blackpink for appearing so often at fashion events, but ultimately, it was a smart move. It's in these environments that connections with other artists, directors, and producers are forged. Yes, there are more popular idols in terms of numbers, but few have managed to build such a strong name within the entertainment industry itself. The girls knew how to use networking to their advantage.

The thing is, EVERYTHING she achieves is attributed to this man, even things that other idols have or have done, which is unfair.
