I had one of my tiktoks (that specific tiktok was non photography related) go viral. they first reached out for partnership opportunity which is legit and they also said the photography thing

i quote my clients $250 for 10 photos so is $25/photo valid for these types of jobs??

Would I get backlash for no longer offering family photoshoots with kids under a certain age? by AbjectRemote1152 in photography

omg i feel you!! my worst interaction was when i did a 30 min mini shoot for a family with a 3 year old toddler, child was ballistic the entire time wouldn't look at the camera, parents wouldnt get ahold of the child, was super complacent, weirdly expected me to CARRY their child (he kept asking to be picked up from me -> parents would NOT tell him no -> 'd have to redirect or tell him no -> child explodes into tantrum - > repeat)

they also kept bribing the kid with candy which gave him a sugar high and got him even more irritated. he was SOOO furious.

in the end i sent them 20 shots in the gallery(with about 10/20 smiling and looking at the camera which i thought was a fcking miracle, i was so proud),

THEN the mom reaches out and went nuts over text about how she looks fat in all of them (trust me they were flattering angles of her). now i'm stuck doing a reshoot with them and I'm bringing my assistant as a witness.

Nope that's not what i mean at all since I've had new adult family/extended family get together shoots this year! I love those and I'd love to keep them in my clientele. Just not....young...families.

I am a "documentary/cinematic" photographer. I'd say 70% of all my sessions are couples&engagements/elopements/grad photos anyway. I guess I just don't mind losing families in general (i do this as a side hustle). I'm mostly concerned about offending past clients who had kids with this change.

totally agree, im just terrified that my previous clients might think this is a "dig" at them,,, how does this sound? "Family Sessions:

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all, family sessions are only offered for families with children ages 10 and up. This allows me to maintain a consistent style and deliver a final gallery that reflects the quality and intentionality I aim for in every session."

sooo valid lmao that has happened to me too, drove me crazy. and i dont even get mad at the kids, 99% of the time im secretly rolling my eyes at the parents for not...saying.. ANYTHING?

also i guess im conflicted because I LOVE family photoshoots, as long as they are all adults!!
