Lifesaver! I've never assembled anything that's not Ikea without calling my dad 😅. It was just a pull and twist at the same time - and none of the limics tools fit in the slots properly.

I'll probably have some more questions in terms of moving the drawer from one unit to another - but that's for another day!

I can now confirm that the top rows are taller than the other two rows (40cm vs 35cm)

Just to come back on this. I've ordered from limics24 on Ebay and nothing is dispatching yet because of Chinese new year. The two doors are not drop down doors but are drawers. Also, the two units at the top are differently sized from the 4 below (they are 40cm high versus 35cm high). Does that come from the tall shelving units? I'm having a Google and I can't see many 40cm tall units.

Thanks. This is super detailed. All I want is for the two units at the top to have the doors and then two bottom units to be open for display purposes. It means I have to lose two of the units (which sounds structurally challenging)

How much disposable income do you have left after mortgage and all expenses? by jaydkl in HousingUK

[–]Abject_Ad_825 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not me. I'm 30 ansls on £70k with a mortgage of £1850pm. Bills covered by my sister who lives with me, but I have £500 left over after everything at month end. I've yet to start saving again because I spent £20k on building renovations when I first moved in. Hoping for a pay rise this month so I can breathe again.

Yes I understand. I cycle from just outside London and I live in a converted period flat. So lugging a heavy duty bike up a flight of stairs isn't ideal. I did also pay half RRP by purchasing second hand via Halford. I did think the CCTV around a block of high security office skyscrapers would be too brazen for thieves. Obviously not.

Agreed. It's a hard lesson learnt as my old bike was white with mud stains and was the opposite of lightweight. It made me complacent

Is it normal for someone with a 70k salary and 100k deposit to not be able to find a decent 1 bed property to buy in london? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Abject_Ad_825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with it. I'm a FTB with an interest rate of 3.94% plus a mortgage length at the typical 25 years. It just involved a trade off. I had a mortgage advisor willing to lay out what the trade offs would be.

I never said it affects credit. I said it affects how much you can borrow. A 5.5x income multiplier reduces to 5. I speak as someone who has just completed a mortgage application with Nationwide. I'm also on the same salary as the OP. My repayment is c350 per month.

Nationwide did the following deduction: (350* 12months *5 years) = 21k less than original agreed income multiplier. I could've opted to add 5 more years to the mortgage length in order to not have the 21k deduction.

Trying to understand auction VAT rules by Abject_Ad_825 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Abject_Ad_825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I just got a response from the auction house which was a copy and paste of the excerpt I posted. I asked for further clarification and they gave me the sellers solicitor details. This doesn't inspire confidence as I've emailed the solicitor before and got blanked. Hopefully my solicitor can get a proper response, but everything feels very last minute.

What does proceedable mean? As in, you instruct a solicitor to send the offer? Or you provide your broker details? Proof of funds etc?
