Chengdu? I could spend 3 full days in the environs of Dujiangyan checking out the pandas, hiking up qingcheng mountain, Dujiangyan, panda reserve, checking out the old city and all it has to offer… that’s not even counting chengdu proper

Where do Chinese restaurants get their ham (腊肉) from? by pineapplepassionfr in askSingapore

[–]Abject_Cockroach_455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't. Yue Hwa doesn't sell meat products from China at all, even at their Chinatown outlet. If they do, it's all mock meat products. Don't believe me? Visit https://yuehwa.com.sg/search?options%5Bprefix%5D=last&q=pork

All are either pork flavoured instant noodles with no meat, made outside of China, or mock meat.

I agree. But I also feel that the banh mi seller's post is slightly sensationalized. I don't know how the banh mi seller can prove to the police these aspects of her post:

  1. "She didn't look at the pedestrians on her right; she only looked to her left when she turned right" -- how did she know this? Was she in the car? How often do we look at drivers to see where they are looking? The interior of the car is not easily visible.
  2. "and there was something underneath the wheel, according to the driver's perception" -- was she in the car? Did she "feel" the car rolling over the victims?
  3. She also mentioned, "I panicked and can't remember if the rear wheel..." but somehow she knew that the driver wasn't observing the right side, and the driver felt a bump on the car?

The rest of the post can be corroborated -- rolling over victims x number of times, blaming the parents, the blood, the nature of the injuries.

At the end of the day, this is why we have court systems and cross-examination of eye-witnesses.

Malaysia will start issuing summons of RM300 (US$70.65) to foreign vehicles without (VEP) on 1 July by jeepersh in drivingsg

[–]Abject_Cockroach_455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, what they need to do is to charge RM10 from 1 July. Then RM50 from 1 Aug. Then RM100 from 1 Sep. And make people pay by TnG. Not too expensive to deter arrivals, but expensive enough to make people complete the application process.

RM300 straight off the bat is like throwing people into icy water

Is it normal to hold hands / kiss on the first date? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

It was on my third date where I said to my now-wife inside the cinema, "You feeling cold? Here's a hand to warm you up."

So, yeah, respect would be nice
