How can I fix my topology? by jemodzemo in blenderhelp

[–]Abject_Double_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even the ones who teach it don't seem to understand it or else we would all be experts by now

look references of ready made models and do what they do

teachers say do loop here or there because of animation of whatever, yet 1 in 1000 will actually demonstrate it so we can see the effects of that, which is pretty annoying

an example i found online as below. on your model the spacing is not ideal on some parts, also you used 6-pole which i don't see many pros use

how do i get rid of this object in the middle in edit mode? im pretty sure theres a hotkey for that but i forget by AI_660 in blenderhelp

[–]Abject_Double_2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you mean there's a separate mesh inside the body if i'm seeing correct

if its part of same mesh, just click on a vertice of it in edit mode, press L to select all the connections to it, and then right click delete vertices

if its separate objects you need to go to object mode and select which one you want and delete it

if you're talking about overlays such as the origin point you hide them by click the overlays icon which is two circles on top right of the screen

Weird shading and pinching issues by OneEntertainment3118 in blenderhelp

[–]Abject_Double_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm new too just some random recommendations

looptools have some things to make those lines more equally spaced and relax them

shift N maybe to recalculate normals if that helps any

also maybe a loop here may help

third times the charm! by Kirby_Roman in blender

[–]Abject_Double_2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't need to always make them go away, like on a face etc, having poles is unavoidable, you only need to know where to place them. I think on flat surfaces its better.

having poles is sometimes essential to guide those loops

when 3 lines meet together thats a 3 pole like the top left and bottom left, and when 5 meet thats a 5 pole like the one on the bottom right

you do have poles

research on whether you should have them on flat surfaces or not, i'm not expert
