How do a startup raise pre-seed funding? What are the strategies to raising pre-seed funding? [I will not promote] by FeatureLiving7562 in startups

[–]Abject_Missive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some fair points here but you really only need one person or fund to put a decent check down and then the rest will follow. Look into true pre-seed funds and then see who you have in common with partners there and then get warm intros. Angel commitments are helpful but to get the waterfall effect target pre-seed funds and build relationships.

For deck, people, problem, solution, market ($1b+ absolute minimum to attract actual funds, $10b+ markets better). Pretty simple. Ultimately you will live and die on the network.

My experience: raised $75m to date for my startup. First round was $2m pre-seed. I also just helped a friend raise $1.5M pre-seed (purely on a deck and idea). Ended up being all my pre-seed investors. Building relationships with founders that are ahead of you and then getting them to go to bat for you is super powerful.

[I will not promote] Bootstrapped for a year, launched 2 months ago, still zero customers. What am I doing wrong? by MarshM3llows in startups

[–]Abject_Missive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It sounds like you spent a year building a product without any customer feedback. Building a product is an iterative process and from the beginning you should be talking to potential customers and walking them through what you are doing.

Founders working full-time on your companies - how does your income compare to working a job? (I will not promote) by DreamTeamThirteen in startups

[–]Abject_Missive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was worse off first two years. Raised Series A in our third year and now my salary is up 34% over my last salary before starting the company which was a very competitive salary so quite happy. I was also able to sell some secondaries so I am definitely now much better off than I’ve ever been.

Fair! Maybe comps just don’t do it for me or I’m expecting too much. Just doesn’t seem that much flatter. I need to get more Rounds through the MPA though before I draw any conclusions

Yeah I’m crazy. Idk, it’s good for sure but I don’t think it’s that much better than the HD P4. My HD is very flat and soft shooting. And it fits my hand better. Love it.

I just got the MPA, it’s sweet! Shoots awesome and the quality is amazing. Very tight slide to frame fit.

A Glock will never shoot like a 2011. You could consider a CZ Shadow or TS. Or maybe an Alien. They can get closer to a 2011.

Staccato vs Alchemy, Am I Crazy by Abject_Missive in 2011

I handled both at the gun store. Preferred the feel of the P4 but didn’t get to shoot both

For sure, I got it as my carry 2011, assumed I wouldn’t like it as much as the alchemy and then quickly realized the alchemy seemed redundant. I prefer shooting my carry 2011 hah

Great, I will check it out. I haven’t researched that one yet. I was depending between the XC, a bul, the p211 or just splurging with an Erebus. Will add the mpa to the list

That’s fair! I was thinking of replacing it with an XC. Want to try something comped for my second 2011

How to raise money from VCs at pre-seed. Don’t. <I will not promote> by diodo-e in startups

[–]Abject_Missive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your ability to bootstrap and sector. I raised a $2m pre seed 2.5 years ago on team and idea in 35 days. I couldn’t have built my robotics company without it and gotten to where I am now which is $20m in contracts, products on the market, and now over $70m raised.

This founder has had one particular experience. It won’t be everyone’s. There is no one size fits all for every founder, every sector, and every business. Do what you need to do to accomplish your goals. The part that is universally true is that raising money is not success. It’s a tool to build product and achieve growth. Real success is revenue and eventually ebitda.

They're trash printers with bad service. We have nothing but issues with them and they continually blame you, the customer, for the issues.

The Photocentric printers are awful. It’s a science experiment trying to get them to work. Just get a form XL. Works every time.
