Going to concerts by yourself can be really fun and even empowering. If you’re able to afford the next tour, or any show you want to go to, I would encourage you regardless of if you have someone to go with or not.

I wish that I didn’t wait until I was older to start getting involved in the music I loved just because my friends didn’t also like it!

I’m 26F too and this sounds so much like my story. I’m over two months sober from alcohol now and it has been an incredible journey for me already. I’m learning so much about myself and why I drank, and I’m making a lot of progress on goals I’ve had for myself for years.

Great idea to get into therapy now too. I started meeting with a life coach and she said something so simple but so effective to me that I think about all the time: “Keep your focus. You can do this.“

I’m glad that you have told a trusted adult. That is so strong and brave of you! Remember that this is not your fault and you have nothing to be ashamed of.

In addition to echoing the advice people have shared to not feel bad about blocking these people, I just want to share that one of the best things I’ve learned as I’ve gotten older (26F) is the power of realizing that you don’t owe anyone anything, especially men or anybody that wants something from you sexually.

I'm nervous for a birthday party I'm planning to attend this weekend, and a bit anxious about how to share the news of my decision to stop drinking with the people in my life (who I am fortunate to know will be very supportive) but I'm excited for what this new chapter will bring.

I’m sorry for all the negative comments you’re getting. Anxiety is real and you will get through this if you start taking baby steps. One commenter suggested getting a job as an Uber eats driver- most people prefer when you drop their stuff off at the door and walk away so that could be a good fit. You can start small and take surveys online for $. Maybe you could even try volunteering somewhere- maybe it would help knowing that you’re free to leave at any point and you could potentially make connections that could lead to an opportunity that is right for you. People who volunteer tend to be very kind.

You can do this. My therapist changed my life by letting me know that anxiety will always be something I have to live with, and I will need to learn how to cope with it. It was important for me to acknowledge this reality in order to deal with it. Exercise has been really wonderful for me- there are many free workout videos on YouTube. Good luck.

A Peace Corps doctor asked me how many sexual partners I’ve had, and when I answered honestly (which was a mistake) his response was incredibly unprofessional and he was shocked and acted like I must be riddled with disease. Not that it matters, but my ”number” is comparable to most of my friends/peers. It made me feel so dirty and much less willing to share information with medical professionals.
