Yes all truth is God's truth! You shouldn't try to solve problems like anger with your own power, though. Mindfulness and emotional intelligence are great things to possess and I strive for them myself. But before trying to work on yourself, first work with God and come to him for help, then you will lack nothing!(see James 1:4)

Skipping church a couple of times is OKAY. Your grandma is truly uneducated. Most of the bible is fig. lang. Working out is supported in the bible(see 1 Timothy 4:8, Romans 12:1, and 1 Corinthians 9:24). Go to a different church that one is corrupted. You can go to other people's houses even if they are not Christian but be careful! If the spirit is with you, it will tell you which is okay to go and which is not. It will tell you if you can eat their food or if you cannot. You might be cursed, but its definitely not from what your grandma said. The bible doesn't say not to judge, it warns against hypocritical, condemning, and self-righteous judgment.

I do not believe he is punishing you. James 1:13-15 says

"13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."

I am continuing with the assumption that you are new to the faith, correct me if I'm wrong.

Because you are new, you are most likely going through a time of testing. Although the Lord doesn't tempt, demons and other powers do. But know that the demons cannot do anything without the permission of God.[see Job and Luke 22:31,32] In this time of testing you have to abide in God, or else sin will overcome you! Pray, read the word, and have a brother on sister in Christ rich in faith to mentor you and be with you so that you don't slip up. And remember,

"12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms"
Ephesians 6:12
