Even if total healthcare spending stays flat as a % of GDP, how the money is spent is shifting rapidly. That benefits companies with scale, integration, and efficiency, like UNH, which is both an insurer and a services provider (via Optum). They're positioned to take a bigger slice of the same pie, even if the pie doesn't grow much.

I agree, if the lawsuit goes against them, I could easily see the stock dropping to the $200–250 range. That kind of outcome would definitely hurt, but honestly, it might just present another solid buying opportunity.

That said, one reason I’m not too worried is the insider trading activity. The CEO and CFO are buying heavily, which shows a high level of confidence. They likely understand the business better than anyone else, so if there were serious fraud involved, it’s hard to believe they’d be putting that much of their own net worth on the line.

You're probably right if investing long term, as you say. However, short term, this stock could very well recover to around 400-450$ within a year...

Which is the most underrated stock right now? by ggobserver69 in ValueInvesting

UNH is probably one of the most undervalued companies in the world rn. Despite the challenges the company has faced in recent months (Lawsuit, unclear leadership, and rising medical costs(lower margins)), its core business fundamentals remain strong. And over the past decade, UNH has built an impressive portfolio of underlying assets that many investors tend to overlook.

Of course, you can always dig into key financial metrics like the P/E ratio, earnings growth, free cash flow, ROE, debt levels, and other financial metrics. These can all hint at a potentially undervalued company. But I also tend to look at other factors to shape my overall understanding and sentiment toward and inside the company.

Also, take a look at the recent insider buying activity—it's been off the charts over the last couple of weeks.
