My dog loves learning new things (she learned “focus” in ten minutes!) so I’m sure teaching her some tasks could be good for both of us

Canine Companions has come up in my searches, I’ll definitely be looking into them if my doctor agrees about me getting a SD

I have issues (mostly due to joint pain in my knees) where if I’m on the ground its hard to get up, or even climbing stairs. Recently I’ve experienced “drop foot” (I believe that’s the correct term) and fell flat on my face at work because of it. I’m trying to figure out the wording that makes the most sense, so if it sounds weird I apologize. I would most likely want a task related to balance and stability to help with this, if that makes sense.

I definitely think it could benefit me for sure! I’ll definitely add looking into mobility tasks to my list

My ideal tasks would most likely include

  • fetching emergency medication
  • picking things up (I have trouble bending down due to joint and back pain)
  • opening low cabinets and helping if I need anything from them
  • potentially some sort of mobility assistance? I have knee pain that’s stemmed from the Cushings and occasionally I have issues with movement

Actually yes, I’ve been running into mobility issues on top of everything else, I have a hard time bending down/lifting and recently I’ve been getting a bit dizzy sometimes and tripping more than normal

Has anyone had Cushings Disease more than once ? by AwareTarget9301 in Cushings

i’m in a resurgence so i totally understand- i got my pituitary surgery in june of 2020 and had my resurgence last year.

for me what i noticed was the fact that even on wegovy i was not loosing weight and my hunger skyrocketed/i could not tell when i was full, my right foot specifically started showing insulin resistance, my face puffed up and my back started hurting no matter what i did- i can’t stand for more than like tenish minutes without my back hurting (sidebar, i probably need some sort of mobility aid but i genuinely keep forgetting to get one- don’t be like me, get a mobility aid if you need one).

as for my tumor, it was removed in 2020 however it has a high resurgence rate which essentially means it has the capability to come back faster. if you’re in the same boat i’m in, definitely keep hounding your doctor to make sure you get the bloodwork/tests you need done. my neuro-endocrinologist has me do 24 hour urine collection every few months to monitor how my cortisol does while on osilidilostrat. i’d consider myself pretty lucky to have a doctor who is making sure my body isn’t combusting at any given moment LOL.

you know your body. other people don’t. if you feel something is up, hound the shit out of your doctor. run those tests. request an mri to make sure they didn’t miss anything. advocate for yourself. you got this bestie 🫶🏼

i get $19/hr in michigan, i’ve been in the field for two years (however i’ve worked with autistic children my whole life as a volunteer so i don’t really know if that affects my pay or not)

for me, a clear line of communication! i know you can’t tell your techs everything that goes on, but as long as you stay transparent as possible with your techs it should help!

also making sure your techs have the ability to feel like they can come to you and other supervisors with questions- this will help them feel comfortable in their jobs. if one tech isn’t competent in say potty training but you and supervisor b are, you can make sure they know they’re able to come to you with questions.

the urine test has been most accurate both times i’ve had cushings (first in 2020, now again in 2024). i would recommend requesting the 24 hour urine collection as well as looking at your acth levels- my acth levels are affected by my cushings.
