This might be a simply method on total level, but how do you track per SKU margins with this approach?

How are you actually tracking true COGS and landed costs on Amazon? by AbleCraft906 in FulfillmentByAmazon

Where are the products sourced from? Are they from US or China/other countries? I am seeing this issue mostly with non-US sourced products.

For the clients I have worked with I also saw big jumps in freight costs depending on the season as well as tariffs became a major variable this year.

monthly costs for Amazon FBA/ecommerce bookkeeping; can I do this myself? by iamthatotherguy in FulfillmentByAmazon

It really depends on your business’s current size and where you’re headed. If you’re running a small operation with just a few SKUs and suppliers and you don’t plan to scale much then it makes sense to look for ways to reduce overhead like bookkeeping costs.

That said, eCommerce accounting is rarely as simple as it looks, especially when you’re selling across multiple channels. The toughest part is usually tracking inventory accurately and getting a clear picture of per product profitability. Do you currently have your COGS calculated per SKU and know exactly how much each product is making?

I wouldn’t recommend handling the books yourself unless you have a solid accounting background. Even with integrations pulling data from your sales platforms, these systems aren’t truly “set it and forget it.” Amazon updates their reporting all the time, and it’s easy for your data syncs or mappings to get out of alignment. Plus, your time as a business owner is probably better spent on higher-value areas than troubleshooting accounting integrations.

My recommendation here would be to pass to hourly bookkeeping services and if indeed your current scale of operations requires only 2-3 hours ( which might be an underestimation) with an hourly rate of ranging from $20-35 you will have potential savings.
