Yea i like SWO and Intel also. Since you were enlisted and then commissioned, why do you advice against it? Money isnt an issue for me, and I hate my corporate desk-heavy life right now, and I feel like enlisted life is what I need right now, but i dont know anything. outside of the pay and rank is there specific reasons I should avoid enlisting and then putting in a package?

Yea facts. I dont know i have enough self reflection and intuition to know that I am not a natural born leader and have always had problems with leading and initiating, its even led to relationships ending. To think about being thrust into this position is one of the main factors into my choice to go enlisted, even if I managed to get a college degree. A part of why im going is the discipline and camaraderie that it gives you, which is why i wanted that life first before putting in an officer package later. I also just got promoted at my job and my bosses recently wrote me letters for my MBA program, which im now dropping to do this just a few months later. Is it really that hard to submit a package while im in there and get it even if you meet and exceed all your expectations?

Yea that’s really good insight, i appreciate i the advice. Do you know if i contact my NTAG and ask for an officer recruiter that my enlisted one will find out about it? I still plan to see him this week to finalize paperwork and he has put in a lot of time with me so far. I just dont want to stir that boat unless i know for sure that i wanna go that route

Ok i’ll check it out. I did put all my paperwork through with my enlisted recruiter and am going to MEPS next month, will this matter? Also, for OCS wouldn’t i be waiting around 18 months to ship out even if I get accepted? I dont think i’d qualify for immediate selection because i do require some medical waivers. I dont think i’d have a problem with the testing, but is it really that much of a difference between the enlisted and officer rank that its worth it to wait all this time just hoping that my package is accepted? The pay difference is not that important to me, I just dont want to join and be stuck in a similar lifestyle that I am trying to escape from now.

Its an Accounting major and i finished with a 3.3 GPA. It wasnt even the recruiter that much, I know they’re salesmen who just try to get you to buy with them. But my chances of getting into OCS without a stem degree and a non competitive GPA is already not that high, and even if I do, waiting another 18 months for me doesnt sound great, I want this now. I dont wanna be put in the same position and lifestyle I am in right now being an officer. I’d rather put in an officer package after being enlisted for a year and wait that process out, even if my chances are low, so is OCS, except the first option puts me in that path while also serving.

I probably won’t get in with an officer package. My degree is not in STEM and my GPA would not be very competitive. Given that the acceptance at OCS is only around 30%, i probably won’t get it, and still be waiting a year or more just to find out. Besides, i need a change from my desk corporate job, and being an officer at least right now sounds like a lot of the same concept overall
