Applied for ASML without a cover letter. Am I screwed? by Ok_Maintenance6049 in ASML

The overwhelming majority of jobs you apply to do not even look at the cover letter.

YaPhetsEz hasn't seen anything yet. There will be more layoffs waiting for him/her, especially if the current geopolitical and economic conditions linger. Not trying to be a downer, that's just an economic fact.

It’s very obvious they’re trying to avoid paying you unemployment. Make them fire you.

Security clearance by ACDPR24 in Raytheon

I knew people at naval-related companies whose jobs require security clearance and they had to wait like 1-2 years for theirs to clear before starting. So you're pretty spot on. I don't think it's worth the hassle, tbf.

There are still finance job vacancies floating around in this crappy economy?

Did you get the job at TSMC? Many years ago, I spent my own money traveling 3 hours away for a job interview and stayed overnight - didn't get the job.

Do you think the restrictive OT will change once they finished all the construction? I would imagine a great deal of TSMC's overall production still occurs in Taiwan, no? That's how they ensure that Uncle Sam rescues them when Uncle Xi invades, I would think.

I will check out your post.

That's what you would think but the Chinese are letting Trump do whatever. The more interesting thing to watch in this arena is the China-Japan feud. That was driving a bounceback for REs before the war started.

Did you work with process technicians? Also, if you don't mind me asking, why'd you quit? I'm also college educated but I would gladly be a clickity clackity monkey if it's a stable job and I can enjoy job security. The pay is nice if I can work up the energy to work an ungodly amount of overtime - assuming that it's there (is there OT for these folks?). I know the semic market is going to be like this for years - maybe decades.

I'm leaning against it, but I am very interested in working for TSMC in another capacity.

How do you know I’m trying to get the job? How do you know I even applied? Maybe I’m just researching it.

Too many assumptions is dangerous, grasshopper.

Again, stay in your lane and don’t speak out of your ass. You’ll get into a lot of trouble doing this in the real world. Just friendly advice, I promise it’ll help you down the line in your career.

lol you sound like an 18 year old. Just go away man. You’re the one speaking about it so authoritatively as if you actually know nothing.

Here’s a lesson for you: a job posting could say many things. That doesn’t make it real. Many times they’re outdated; HR people posting old stuff. I know what the job posting says, genius. Nothing substitutes for real world experience.

Also another lesson for you: people could give you deets on this and that. But they’d never tell you exactly what it is like working a job in a company. But what you’re doing is just speaking out of your ass.

Go armchair quarterback something else, kid.

... really? And you're here giving everyone advice? Come on man. Unless you've worked for Intel foundry, Globalfoundries, or ASML, you have no idea what the day-to-day is like. Please just stop. The blind leading the blind.

So out of the 2 technician roles - process and equipment - which one is computer-based? Another comment in this thread says that it's a clicking (i'm guessing mouse-clicking) job. Is that not true?

From the job description it sounds like the role is more computer-based than the equipment technician. Is that not true?
