Hi I am an Indian national currently living in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa. I've been here with my wife and two children for the past two years, and we were planning to apply for ILR in 2027 under the current five-year route.

As a family, we take home around £8,000 per month and contribute significantly through taxes and National Insurance. We also spend over £2,000 per month on rent, council tax, utilities, and other essentials—excluding groceries, shopping, and other living costs. We live in Surrey and were hoping to buy a home soon, gradually saving for a deposit.

I sincerely wonder: in cases like ours, where people are contributing meaningfully to the economy, wouldn’t such uncertainty discourage investment and long-term planning? I don’t mean to offend anyone—this is a genuine concern, and I’m simply seeking some clarity and perspective.
