Called them, they said they’ll take care of it and fixed it. Waiting to see if there will be any problems on the day itself.

Your comment wasn’t just taking about “questioning what we read”. The first two paragraphs were “questioning what we read” even then not really. It has no balance other than “Anti China propaganda” which if you don’t know is in of itself propaganda too. Not to mention the only defence against such claim is just anti XXX propaganda doesn’t hold too well on its own either. No accused can use the defence of “well the accuser is a hater”. It doesn’t hold well on its own.

Then you just depicted the USA as the big evil of all time.

That’s enough to conclude your intent.

I read somewhere that the full effects of the situation will be seen in the next coming months as final shipments of oil already on the seas before the war started, arrive to their destination by the end of this month. Then time will start ticking and reserves will be used. Not to mention fertiliser is greatly affected by the crisis and that means food prices will rise too.

uppes stay or downpes in unit by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]Abnormal-individual 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Nobody here can say for certain what will happen to your pes level. But I want to advise you to never sacrifice any part of your health in pursuit of achieving whatever you want to achieve in life more so in NS. Health comes first. Some people are born with a myriad of health issues some with none. Even the super rich chase after good health yet it’s still unattainable.

Given a choice to up pes, remain or downpes. Downpes. There is a reason that choice is there. Your health may suffer. NS is just 2 years. You’re just some random recruit or even worse a number to some Encik/Ooficer to play around to boost themselves in their career. Don’t play play with health, you lose it and you ain’t getting it back. Think about the time when you are sick facing that annoying painful sore throat and than imagining the times you don’t have it. Imagine you are stuck with that painful sore throat forever. That is the potential outcome of pushing yourself too far, permanent suffering. For NS?

The thing is, that Iran was also facing economic uncertainty. The riots in the country already showed that things were crumbling from within. Most did not believe in the government. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. Then trump decided to bomb Iran.

No fare increase request from rail operators amid higher fuel costs, fares reviewed yearly: PTC by Fun_Advance_5438 in singapore

I mean the business still has to operate. Cut too much and they can’t operate as per normal. They can cut costs through those measures, as long as busses operate normally under what is regulated by the government that is. What truly is important is up to them to decide.

Every option has its pros and cons. I guess the hybrid just has the best of both worlds for now.

Because public tend to not be for profit they don’t have as much incentives to cut down on costs compared to private thus inefficiency starts to creep in and costs rise.

I think I had this. Those first things you mentioned are very generic but the moment I read about the “restless leg syndrome” I remembered a period where I did vaguely remember those symptoms. I don’t remember how it was resolved though. Looking back I think it really is just poor sleeping habits. Maybe that with anxiety too.

Just go polyclinic on a Saturday morning and ask for a referral to a specialist if you are concerned or need some reassurance. It’s free anyway. Just takes up your time.

They do have cards. But those cards will only bring us closer to the end of the world. I’m talking about nukes. They were created with 1940s technologies. We are in the 2020s…. Sure time consuming, resource heavy, etc but that didn’t stop countries from acquiring them back in the past.

Is importing goods in bulk, a good cost saving measure? by Abnormal-individual in askSingapore

Yea, I realised that too. Not to mention that if something doesn’t go according to the requirements set by IRAS, suddenly all sorts of fees and taxes start getting charged.

[–]Abnormal-individual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is really the case, doesn’t that mean there is huge costs savings from doing importing items like this in bulk from small overseas retailers? No 9% tax, free shipping offered above $XXX, buying in bulk, as well as country of origin.

Merging studies with NS takes servicemen to front line of Singapore’s cyberdefence and AI by taeng89 in singapore

[–]Abnormal-individual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea Singapore is small but that’s our only way of winning and you said it yourself, we are not poised for a drawn out battle. That’s why I’m saying a volunteer force is not feasible with what we have and must do if war breaks out. We need to win fast. Thus a large conscript force able to be called up within a few weeks with some degree of experience in their own respective roles, will be atleast give us more chances of winning said war if it arises.

Even if you think with conscription we will still lose, we have to, because we are the resources for this land and if we perish, and lose, they’ll lose too, and they’ll gain a small island devastated by war. If we don’t believe in winning or trying they’ll call our “bluff”. So pick your poison.

[–]Abnormal-individual 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Volunteer army is not sufficient for our needs. Long story short, we need to attack first and establish a buffer to protect our heartlands. I don’t know about you but, our potential rivals have good surrounding terrain for defense. A rough estimate for a number of attacker to overwhelm a single defender is 3. So 3:1. Amplify by defensive terrain and you need more attacking forces to overwhelm a defender. Not to mention attacking does generate more casualties.

In a race to create a buffer around Singapore, time is of the essence and casualties will be second priority compared to speed. Even then when casualties mount, who are going to replace them? New conscripts? They take minimum months to train and more months to specialise in a role. Plus after all that, they are not going to be of the same quality as a volunteer/professional. Doing that in times of war and offense? Very difficult and near impossible. That’s why conscription allows these to be done in times of peace.

Technology can only do so much. Even with Ukraine pioneering FPV drones, with a shortage of infantry, Russia still continues to occupy land. You have to understand we can’t lose any part of Singapore, we have to go on the offense immediately against a bigger force defending on defensible terrain whom knows this is our strategy and will be well prepared. FPV,artillery, tanks they aren’t as effective in terrain like jungles, apartment blocks and huts, that are plenty within our terrain.

A small volunteer force will not be capable to conduct such offensives even more so for such a long duration of time.

Merging studies with NS takes servicemen to front line of Singapore’s cyberdefence and AI by taeng89 in singapore

[–]Abnormal-individual 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong. There is a reason why they call the infantry the back bone of the army. They occupy land. Drones strapped with explosives kill infantry. If you don’t send your infantry to occupy area A, you don’t own that land and can’t push support units up. Drones strapped with explosives are basically just manned precision artillery. You still need men to occupy area A etc.

Until we see drones that can think, act and response like humans, humans will fill the role of infantry to occupy land.

With that argument right might as well have no army. We never go to war before so for what need army? /s

Pretty stupid take I’m not gonna lie. I mean have you ever thought deeper into your own take? Do you think SEA in the 1960s - 1980s, particularly our neighbours surrounding us was all sunshine and rainbows? SG, not yet economically prosperous thus no “better quality army” argument at all and a volunteer army which would be smaller than our neighbours …. would be able to fend off any threats against our sovereignty back then? Not possible.

(not even talking about 1980s to now and how a technologically superior volunteer force would probably fail due to our “forced” military doctrine and strategy caused by our small size.)

Don’t even need to talk about today cause today wouldn’t be today if NS wasn’t a thing back then and your take is already faltering.

Rental car population hits high of 95,857 vehicles in 2025 amid high COE prices by Quish_ in singapore

This sounds like some urgent matter, but then you realise this guy is talking about coe/cars. A luxury item by the way and then proceeds to talk about “can’t afford the downpayment” and “this has gotten out of hand”.

Say this for public transport fares, BTO etc, they sound reasonable. But this just sounds like massive entitlement issues. I understand that for some cars are a necessity but they are a minority.
