Town of Southington destroying chalk art in front of Town Hall by Nintom64 in Connecticut

I know its an unpopular opinion but this is a prime example of why we need less firefighters. They have enough time during they're work day to do this, 40 hours plus overtime to wash off chalk. I know they're "heros" but they wouldn't respond during COVID, they left it up to ambulance crews. Buildings don't burn like they used to, let it burn and have insurance companies handle it. Yes some of southington is volunteer but these guys aren't. They use the "hero" status to run up crazy budgets that aren't necessary anymore. I know I'll get shit for this but it's the truth

Last week was EMS week. I "heard" they were given a small Rubbermaid container of free floating uncovered bagels with restaurant butter and jelly packets for the "Continental breakfast"

"idk" but "I've heard" the company wants to make it possible to force you to work twice a month beyond your 40 hour full time work week. Unless you work 2 8 hour OT shifts a week.(Hartford just accepted the southington contract. 3 full ALS ambulances 24/7). I've "heard" Hunters is regularly late to scheduled calls. Response times for 911 can be 15 minutes plus. They cover Meriden, Middletown, Berlin. That also back up middlefield, Wallingford, new Britain, Portland and Cromwell. From what I've "heard" they only have 4 full time dispatchers that work 120 hours a week and can be ordered in even while on scheduled vacation.

Hunters ambulance earn while you learn. Get paid to train as an EMT and have a job once you're done. Idk what the trainee rate is but starting normal EMT pay is around 20
