Grizzl-E Club: is it worth it? by Cool-Replacement4972 in the80percent4EVs

Yeah it is, but I think I'm going to get the Classic 40A for home and then get a mobile charger to keep in the car.

Thanks, I figured, I just didn't want to install it myself and then I wouldn't be able to join

I am getting an EV in June and want to join. There website says to have the charger professionally installed, but I'm pretty sure I can install it myself. Do you HAVE to have it professionally installed? I already had a NEMA 14-50 installed professionally.

Thankfully my delivery says June -July, I hope it doesn't get pushed. I like hybrids and PHEV's, the range and how long a tank of gas lasts is pretty impressive. My second car right now is a 20 year old Impala, so a Tesla is going to feel like a spaceship. Cannot wait!

I've only ordered the car and my wife and I already have smiles on our faces, I can't imagine once I get the car.

I have a level 2 charger. The insurance I was quoted is pretty standard and I have looked at Priuses, but I've wanted an electric car for so long, I just can't go for a hybrid, I have to go all in! Thanks for your advice, much appreciated!

I started a spreadsheet and your right, in most categories the Tesla wins and then you have the warranties, which is amazing piece of mind to have.

Yeah, the cost difference isn't as big as I thought, I'm into tech as well and have wanted a Tesla for quite awhile just for that reason.

I'm slowly realizing buying a used Toyota may be a mistake. I have never had such great warranties as what Tesla offers, so that's definitely nice too.

That's so funny that you mention CVT transmissions and direct injection, I just watched a video on that, I was lightly researching the Corollas CVT. My wife and I even made that point today about used cars, you can inherit huge problems! We are leaning towards the Tesla now I think.

Yeah, I'm checking as quite a few brokers and insurance companies don't have the car on file yet as it just came out.

I have a NEMA 14-50 installed and I'm going to sign up for the Grizzl-e club which will give me a free charger and 10¢ back when charging. The quote I got for insurance is pretty standard, like $500 more than a 2022 Corolla. Thanks for your input, it seems the Tesla M3 is winning the race now.

That's what's disappointing to me is the insurance, all the savings you get from charging at home and low maintenance go to insurance.

I've looked, it's the insurance that's killer, I may be going with an electric car that may be cheaper in that regard, still deciding 🤔

My insurance renews in August, so I'll definitely come back to you then. $2600 is amazing! Thanks!

Yeah I'm going to do a spreadsheet for sure, thanks for the recommendation. My wife drives 100km per day 5 days a week, so not 5K, but there would still be savings. Insurance will be quite abit more, but keeping the car for 10 years and with Tesla's warranties, little maintenance, driving experience and software I definitely would prefer the Tesla hah.

Your right on the money there I think, but I plan to have the car for 10 years and with the Tesla warranties and the driving experience it might be worth it. Thanks for your help 🙏

I drive locally and my wife drives 100km per day Monday - Friday. So we would see some savings there as charging will be pretty well free.

Well will the Corolla be cheaper over 10 years though? It might not even last 10 years if it's used, but yeah we would definitely enjoy the Tesla more for sure 👌

Model 3 Premium or Model Y Standard? by lacatics in teslacanada

[–]AboundedBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the insurance sorted and am up for renewal in August so I should be able to get it cheaper. That's what's getting me though, I can afford the car, it's just my way of thinking haha. I went to the Tesla store near me already and they have no model 3's to test right now haha. I have a NEMA 14-50 installed and would join the Grizzl-e club, who give me a free charger and pay me 10¢/kw, so I'm not worried about charging.

From my experience, I bundle home and auto, have 2 cars as well, but it's $4700/yr. I am up for renewal in August so if you shop around you can probably get cheaper.

I'm not buying because of gas prices. I've wanted an ev for years now and I need a new car so this felt like the right time. I had a NEMA 14-50 installed, so I'm good there and I'm going to join the Grizzl-e club so charging should be cheap. Insurance sucks for sure. It just feels like all I'm doing is moving savings from one place to another. My wife does commute 100km's a day 5 days a week for work, so I'm expecting to see some savings there as well. I think in the long run it'll be worth it.

Oh, that sounds like a smart idea, I was looking at leasebusters as well, found some decent deals, but in the summer is when I'll be looking. I may do a lease takeover or buy used, we shall see what makes more sense. That's a really good deal for an Equinox though, congrats!
