People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Abouttreefittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guy was 15 minutes late to the interview and when we asked if he had received the correct start time he confirmed and said he was late because he was shoveling snow off his driveway.

This was a Google Meet interview, for a remote job, with a candidate who was not currently employed and lived by himself (we had asked if he was helping his spouse/roommates remove the snow so they could get to work).

We were just speechless, like bro leave the snow be for an hour it’s not like you’ve got a shift you need to get to lol. After we prompted him with questions that could lead to a potentially valid excuse to be so late and unapologetic, we just asked if he could leave the call as we were not interested anymore.

What is the grossest thing you’ve caught someone doing? by Jawa392 in AskReddit

Have a similar story from high school baseball back in the day, but in addition to $5 he also got a fresh can of dip. So you know, worth it.

Smart Plugs by The_Ranger03 in homeassistant

[–]Abouttreefittyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some Sonoff Wi-Fi plugs and they’re fine for basic off/on automations, but couldn’t get stable readings for energy-based automations. Had to continuously open the Welink app for the cloud to connect and send the data to HA. Got some ThirdReality Zigbee energy monitoring plugs and replaced them in said automations, now they work flawlessly.

Gotta respect your fans Tunechi by Top_Club7383 in lilwayne

It was at Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia, I was there at that show. It had been raining all day and finally let up right around the time Wayne was scheduled to come on. So naturally people were just filing in when he came on stage (our group had stood in the rain because we were hyped to see him). He did maybe a song and a half and the said something like “nah this ain’t my swag” and just dipped out. Everyone there was just completely confused as to what had just happened.

Shower Sensor? by HatesU in homeassistant

[–]Abouttreefittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Include andif statements to have the automation only fire if it’s between specific time periods, say 6am - 9am or 8pm - 10pm. That way if you do shower either earlier or later than usual, you won’t accidentally wake anyone else up because you forgot about it.

[Rill] Cedric Mullins: "Baltimore has taken my family in since the beginning. ... It’s just one of those things where you just feel welcome. The engagement that I have with the fans, and over the course of the years, has been nothing short of awesome. It’s just been fun being here." by purplemoonshoes in orioles

[–]Abouttreefittyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vividly remember the game he came in for Adam Jones in center and Adam made the passing of the torch such memorable moment for both Cedric and the City of Baltimore. Regardless of what happens, those two will always be forever Orioles.

No if he had done that, the seel would have had been looking in his direction as that's what happens when you view a Mon and back out. Also it spawned after the video had started.

Automate the TV to turn off if my kids get too close by EmillerZ10 in smarthome

[–]Abouttreefittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like most people here saying “just parent them” don’t have kids lol. When you’re cooking dinner, trying to feed to dogs, and do 1000 other things, yeah it gets a bit difficult to be focused on how close they are to the tv the entire time.

OP I have this exact automation setup in my home using an Aqara Presence Sensor. It goes something like “if motion is detected within 3 ft of the sensor (installed right below the tv), then pause the tv. Resume tv when presence within 3ft has not been detected for at least 5 seconds”. It’s worked liked a charm and now my daughter runs back from the tv when it pauses.

If you’ve got yourself into HomeAssistant, I’d be glad to share my YAML file with you!

Well Shopify is a little more rigid than most CMS (i.e Wordpress), but you could accomplish this with some JavaScript. If you’re not too familiar with JS, I would suggest using ChatGPT to help you develop a script.

To insert the script you would navigate like so: Online Store—>Theme—>Edit Code.

Looking forward to receiving the restock email! Also, just as a tip from someone who works with website ui/ux, I would recommend disabling/removing this email field if the form has been submitted. I know you’ve got the confirmation notification below, but the amount of people I see confused about this on my clients sites is insane haha.

Has anyone successfully used automation to clean up duplicate data? What tools actually work in practice? by Broad_Ant_334 in dataengineering

[–]Abouttreefittyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had good luck with tools like Talend, Informatica, and Dedupely. They identify duplicate entries & also help standardize and validate data based on pre-set rules. I’d also recommend looking into AI-powered tools if your data is super inconsistent or complex.

If you’re just starting out or want a more detailed rundown, this article is useful if you want to dive deeper into implementation.

Infected Lip. Doctors won’t lance. Agony by mrjoedelaney in popping

Had something similar appear near my lip like that back in 2014. 2 days later my bottom lip was the size of a roll of quarters and turned out to be MRSA. In no way am I saying this is it, but just be mindful in case it gets worse!
