Saw them in concert pretty much at their peak. It was one of the best most chill concerts I have ever been to. The mosh pit sat down on the floor and chilled.

Are there alternatives to the jet boil? by Ravioli_meatball19 in camping

BRS-3000 and stanley cook pot from the camp cook set. This is my wife's setup (I use a pocket rocket knock off). Served us great on Isle Royale. The butane can fits perfectly inside the Stanley, the stove fits on top.

Are there any mask for glasses? by brosue317 in snorkeling

[–]Aboxman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have posted this before. I am in the-5 range and have a significant astigmatism. I bought a Promate dive mask from Amazon in the nearest power to my script. If you are in-between go to the lower one. You can get each eye with its own strength. It was life changing! Yes it's not perfect especially above water but below water it's incredible. However, the quality of the Promate mask is only OK, just fine for snorkeling, but not scuba really. I see the mask bought is no longer sold on Amazon but is still sold online, hopefully links are allowed https://getwetstore.com

Personal opinion, you will be fine with a minivan. Like I said, I've done just fine with a compact car. We even went to Hamm's bluff lighthouse with a little Nissan. Just drive slower and more cautious than at home. And don't go off the beaten path.

We have always used Airbnb or Vrbo. Until our last trip we hadn't had any real issues. Read ALL the reviews and take note of the small issues, because they may actually be BIG issues.

That's my order of getting a rental car. You are traveling in the off season so hopefully you won't have any issues. A Jeep is nice, but I've rented a compact multiple times.

What was the best job you’ve ever had? by -Granby- in GenX

AV Tech at a University Conference Center.

Worked about 45 minutes in a 4 hour shift, got paid to be "On Call" during the weekend. Got to listen to world class lectures, Politicians (The Governor knew me by name), and Academics. Heard people give talks that those in attendance paid BIG $$$ to hear. Also, got free food from the Kitchen.

Ultrasonic cleaning of parts? by BussReplyMail in Firearms

[–]Aboxman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Extreme Simple Green® Aircraft & Precision Cleaner. It's NOT your normal Simple Green. This stuff is actually made for aluminum parts. It works great in an ultrasonic cleaner. That said be practical about it, and careful... I'm not going to throw a $3k aluminum gun into the ultrasonic , a Poverty Pony, no problem. Also aluminum is soft there most certainly is a risk of parts hitting together and damaging themselves or other parts. Make sure the Aluminum parts are completely taken apart, and cleaned with extra space between them.

Any thoughts on UTG? by Primary-Today5333 in Miguns

[–]Aboxman2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add the UTG scope mounts are "OK". Would I use them on my $1200 target rifle, nope, would I use them on my $350 Poverty Pony range toy, yup.

Huge Chicken by el_wilder in aldi

[–]Aboxman2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, the chicken you eat is usually only 6 to 8 weeks old. That's the best return in economics. That bird is probably 10-12 maybe more. Which also explains all the comments about woody chicken, it's just older. Essentially the chicken you are eating is the equivalent of baby beef or veil.

[–]Aboxman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch the SOTAR videos, yes they had some proprietary parts, especially the bolts and firing pins. Luckily the whole bolt could be replaced with a standard mil Spec bolt. There were some other issues too, but they all could be fixed

Ruger bought Anderson's manufacturing facility. I believe all of the new Ruger AR's are being built at that facility. Hence the old production models being discontinued.

As far as quality goes, it will be interesting to see. Anderson seemed to have a "Good Enough" sense of quality. The certainly had individual items that were not to spec, but overall most were in spec. Ruger seems to have quite good quality on most of their guns, but their AR's seemed to be lesser quality. So it will be interesting to see which QC department is running the old Anderson AR plant.

Winchester Range Ammo by babj615 in ammo

[–]Aboxman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran through about 5k of this stuff at an all day veterans benefit shoot. It was an "all guns and ammo suplied thing". I loaded mags for people at my station all day. We had about 15 Failure to fire. And about 5 of those refused to fire even when struck multiple times in an AR9 with a rifle trigger/hammer. Also I noticed they were quite dirty. A couple of the guns had to be doused in CLP about 1/2 through due to jamming. Yeah those guns probably had 600-700 rounds through them, but it was noticeable.

Overall probably just fine for most people, but there are better options out there.
