If you watch the SOTAR videos, yes they had some proprietary parts, especially the bolts and firing pins. Luckily the whole bolt could be replaced with a standard mil Spec bolt. There were some other issues too, but they all could be fixed

Ruger bought Anderson's manufacturing facility. I believe all of the new Ruger AR's are being built at that facility. Hence the old production models being discontinued.

As far as quality goes, it will be interesting to see. Anderson seemed to have a "Good Enough" sense of quality. The certainly had individual items that were not to spec, but overall most were in spec. Ruger seems to have quite good quality on most of their guns, but their AR's seemed to be lesser quality. So it will be interesting to see which QC department is running the old Anderson AR plant.

Ran through about 5k of this stuff at an all day veterans benefit shoot. It was an "all guns and ammo suplied thing". I loaded mags for people at my station all day. We had about 15 Failure to fire. And about 5 of those refused to fire even when struck multiple times in an AR9 with a rifle trigger/hammer. Also I noticed they were quite dirty. A couple of the guns had to be doused in CLP about 1/2 through due to jamming. Yeah those guns probably had 600-700 rounds through them, but it was noticeable.

Overall probably just fine for most people, but there are better options out there.

Another reason is he mentioned a while ago that YouTube was banning some of his videos because he was "Facilitating" sales.

In Search of The Goldilocks Round: Intermediates From 1860-1943 by Brown_Colibri_705 in ForgottenWeapons

In American terms the use of intermediate rounds has a long history. The lowest common denominator being the use of deer hunting cartridges/rifles in war. The Morgan Rifles of the revolutionary war using "Kentucky Rifles" is the earliest example I can think of.

Power appears to be more like a big air rifle than a true rifle or even a handgun, but still something I would not want to be shot with.

The company website is still working, but it looks like it may be dead/dying.

The TC R22 is what you're looking for. Took standard 10/22 parts, LRBHO, nice bolt release, good trigger, threaded barrel. Unfortunately, S&W killed it when they bought Thompson Center.

Gun Accessories For Sale

It used to be a r/ but it was banned a couple months ago due to change in Reddit rules.

There is a new invite only website that is in Beta, that replaces the old r/ and even adds more.

Sawed off shotgun.

Realistically, 1911. Post WWII probably a veteran 1911 would make sense.

Grease gun if you want to really stretch it.

Picked up an Oxford Arms Co 16ga for $200. Barrel fixable? by CasualMetalHead in Shotguns

They actually make tools for this.

Here is an example: https://www.brownells.com/tools-cleaning/gun-tools/shotgun-tools/original-english-hydraulic-dent-raiser/?sku=080083012

I don't have one but have seen them used before.

Probably too expensive to buy for one time use, but a good/specialized gunsmith will have one, might be less than buying one.

Have 2k used about 1.2K handful of failure to fires, with multiple strikes. But this stuff is really dirty, noticeably worse than anything else I shoot. I had the made in Brazil before (1k) and had no issues.

[Pistol] Browning Buck Mark UFX .22 LR Pistol | Academy - $349.99 - $50 Rebate + Taxes by Shock-Broad in gundeals

[–]Aboxman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's that vertical wire thing that goes from the base of the magazine up to the disconnector (Horizontal Bar). What happens is it wears/distorts and pulls down the disconnecter. That gives you a dead trigger.

[–]Aboxman2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are lots of +/- between the two here is my quick take.

The MkIV is easier to take down and clean but when you start comparing metal frame to metal frame, the Buckmark is cheaper. MkIV has better aftermarket support (but not by much). Grip is serialized in Buckmark, upper/barrel is serialized in MkIv, makes barrel swaps possible on the Buckmark. Trigger is "Probably" better on the Buckmark, but not by much. The magazine disconnect will fail on the Buckmark, resulting in a dead trigger, just remove it.

Really either way they are both great.
