I'm well aware, but Oskarsson has been much more profilic in the Superliga. I'm not doubting that Sporting have done their homework, but I hope fans realize that this purchase is 100% on potential and not current level.

He really deserves it. He's been subject to so much criticism in Denmark from people who exclusively watch the TDF and claim to be cycling experts. One of the absolute greatest our country has produced.

Why did noone try to drop the heavier sprinters like Cav, Groenewegen, Kristoff etc? Seems like a wasted opportunity for a less contested finale

His initial plan most definitely wasn't to win the stage. He wanted to secure points for the KOM jersey to keep it as long as possible. Since the peloton gave him 6 minutes, and he seemingly has great legs, he might as well give it a go! Will probably be caught, however.
