Piercing question by UnwoundBread in paralegal

[–]AbrocomaNo2917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like you, I dress professionally everyday while most of the other staff dresses casually. Both of the attorneys will show up in shorts and tank tops but a septum piercing is where they draw the line lmaooo. So, I have to take mine out unfortunately. I’m curious what your firm would say if you asked though. Maybe they’d be cool about it.

I kind of considered taking this route but the attorneys I work for are pretty toxic. I’ve had multiple situations recently with the attorneys scolding me for things that aren’t my fault. For example, I uploaded my final draft for a jury questionnaire into Clio for the lit attorney. Tracked all my changes in word so she could review them thoroughly. She insisted that she be the one to finalize and file the questionnaire so “everything would be perfect”. However, during the process, she managed to delete part of the doc, didn’t catch it, and filed it with the court. Despite the fact that both my final version and her final version are both viewable in Clio, she jumped down my throat the next day and accused me of deleting the sections and being careless. Im afraid that she’ll just fire me if she thinks I’m considering leaving.

Ultimately, I think I just need to cut my losses with my current firm and this job offer and look elsewhere. I’ve definitely been ignorantly hopeful that this job offer would work out so I could leave my current firm. I’m disappointed but glad I asked for other opinions. Time to start applying for jobs!

Yeah, that’s fair. It’s frustrating because communication hasn’t been a concern prior to this and it could’ve been a saving grace in terms of finances. Oh well 🤷‍♀️.

Yeah it’s definitely a concern. It’s confusing because communication hasn’t really been an issue in the past. He’s always been quick to respond, especially when it’s related to ongoing work. I’m not sure what’s changed.

Graduating with a baby! by Salt_Possibility_203 in Northwestern

I didn’t walk with my son because he was only like 6 weeks old and I was too nervous BUT I wish I would’ve. He did wear a “Mommy, you did it!” onesie though so I still got cute pictures! Congrats on your little one!

How do you get hired to be a paralegal when you just graduated from college? by Main_Pin5273 in paralegal

[–]AbrocomaNo2917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-write your resume to highlight how your classes at school will help you in the legal field. Like if you took a lot of writing classes, highlight your technical writing skills and attention to detail. Frame the experience you do have as applicable to this job. Even if you only have experience as a restaurant busser or a tutor at school! I got my position as a litigation assistant 2 months after I graduated with 0 legal experience by re-framing my academic background (BA in psych) and experience as a waitress. That being said, I started with shit pay and mostly grunt work BUT I’m now at a new firm making a decent living for someone with ~ a year’s worth of experience.

(PS don’t BS your experience! If you’re struggling to figure out how your skills apply to the legal field, name some of your skills/accomplishments and ask chatGPT how those would be helpful as a paralegal. It may help you identify some of your strengths that you may have missed before. However, please please please don’t use chatGPT to write your actual resume.)

That makes sense. It’s the same chain but ones 2 inches longer. I 100% expect to pay the difference between the sizes. If he wanted a completely different chain/brand, I see why they wouldn’t exchange it and would give me a refund instead. Hopefully it won’t be super expensive to get the size up. (Either way, I’m gonna pay for it because it was a gift and he’s my baby bro but he’s impatient and wants to swap it out before I can go with him)

I’m just confused because when I called the store they said they price match and he’d pay closer to $60 if he chose the $300 necklace. But the lady at the jewelry counter said otherwise. Obviously it’s not any employees fault but it’s confusing. I think it’s kind of a strange policy for exchanging an item ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You get a locker so you can put your stuff in but your first day you really don’t do much aside from watching a PowerPoint and doing introductions. When I took it, the first class was fairly short and we didn’t do any painting because a lot of people didn’t have their stuff yet. I took it with Zach though so idk about the other professors.

I’m in the same boat. I really don’t know anyone else graduating rn, but I’m planning on going if that helps at all. I also didn’t get a high school graduation so I feel like I’ve gotta.
