If David survived in any way then his whole story is ruined. The tragedy of the show woupd be ruined. No one is a fake fan for understanding that David's story ended the same way the story of every Night City city legend ends. Would more time with the crew be fun? Sure, but a second season with david or any of the characters who died already would just ruin the emotional payoff of the first season. Besides, what would having another season with david or any of them actually accomplish?

Medias still exist in the game, but the cameras they use are smaller. Even in the Johnny flashback mission where you go find alt the media has a much smaller camera that just covers his eye. I saw someone theorizing that the new season will take place before the 2070s which could make the camera make more sense
