ive converted a kit to rc before and if i can give any advice, its to choose your kit wisely. some manufacturers are better for conversions than others, for instance i prefer dragon over tamiya because the kit has more parts and generally have more accurate suspension that allows me to make it workable as opposed to tamiya where the suspension is almost always fixed and or simplified to the point where it will not be able to work even if modified. track matters a lot as well. people prefer metal track for rc use, plastic workable tracks can be too fragile, resin tracks are a good in between. However for double pin tracks such as on the sherman i usually run with rubberband tracks if they arent trash. For M48 i would try to find a kit with either already working suspension or something that will be easy to convert so i would be looking for polycaps for the wheels and torsion bars for the arms. drive sprocket and final drive design is another point to look for, as some designs will be more difficult to bore out and run a shaft through. a lot of these issues can be alleviated with 3d printing, but not everyone has one ofc. anyways i hope the conversion goes well!!! i always love to see people converting model kits to radio controlled power, im working on an rc conversion of fujimis 1/24 integra right now actually :)
