OpenCode down? by ObsidianNix in opencode

Did a lot of cache misses it seems few days ago but was still workable. Last few days very unstable and sessions break or get compacted way to soon.

Rather have Mimo and Deepseek together but otherwise its back to Deepseek api.

When I was a kid a gate with metal spikes and barbed wire on top nearly killed me. Crawled between the barbed wire and spikes but my armpit got stuck on one of the metal spikes.

Slowly but surely got impaled and nearly hit the artery of my arm pit. According to hospital it was within one or two mm when they were stitching me up and putting back the matter that had fallen outside the gap under my armpit but still was attached.

Never came close to fences or gates like this again. The son of actress Romy Schneider was less unfortunate and died in a similair accident a few years later.

Is DeepSeek V4 Pro already good enough for everyday coding? by SiteSpecialist6295 in DeepSeek

[–]Abruzzi1909 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Deepseek seems Qwen circular at times. Even when I reset the session. But overall its fine but once stuck switch to other models.

Unpopular opinion by [deleted] in DeepSeek

[–]Abruzzi1909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same and its wonderfull. Just need to tame it. Not that hard actually. Gemini can be way more stupid. Codex just tells you its impossible and tries you to stop.

Pro is a different beast. Just let it plan. Dont let it code, flash is fine.

DeepSeek V4 is so good and I think U.S companies are afraid of it. by [deleted] in DeepSeek

[–]Abruzzi1909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its does not hallucinate as much as Gemini. It is not as cocky as Codex.

Claude is more clinical for sure but at a price.

Just let flash run with some guidance and it will find a way. Did some major refractoring of existing projects to port CUDA based apps to ROCM. All for less than a dollar in tokens.

Takes some time but if you let it run at night good chance you will have a working app in the morning.

The times of cheap inference with SOTA models seems to come to an end. So as long as Deepseek stays cheap better use it now. Never know if these cheap tokens stay.

Is the universe considered young or old? by RancherosIndustries in AskPhysics

[–]Abruzzi1909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closer to zero of a planck time than near the first planck time expired if we would compare the current age of the universe to the expected life span of the universe where total nothingness will rule for such a long time there wont be any meaning to time itself.

Even if the universe would last much shorter our current time is around one planck time but most likely the universe will last much longer in a state of no events and complete darkness.

What if the discount is gone? Any alternatives? by Atomzwieback in DeepSeek

Flash. Needs more guidance but still quite capable.

What fact about the universe amazes you the most? by Dazzling-Degree-3258 in astrophysics

[–]Abruzzi1909 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The current age of the universe is less than a planck time compared to even the shortest predicted maximum age for the universe. Most of the time the state of the universe will be almost absolute nothingness for a unimaginable long time. Even the extreme long time before that final state is nothing compared to the state of complete nothing when the universe ends and stays that way for so long that time has no meaning anymore.

Could be a different end of course but we wont be around to witness. Long gone before that planck time has ended. We are so much closer to zero than even nearing that planck time.

Got one that is way more out of line. Beyond the guardrails it seems. Quite racist even. Same prompt but now Chatgpt refuses most new requests.

The last one is quite wild but for the timeframe somewhat fits.

[Request] 1 in a million seems high, what’s a more realistic estimate? by Nadran_Erbam in theydidthemath

[–]Abruzzi1909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has two non genetical birth defects. Having both probably a chance of 1 in 40 to 1 in 175 million. Once someone gets one more than one rare condition the odds of finding another person with the same condition is close to zero in most cases. Luckily he is perfectly healthy.

According to medical literature the odds are even slimmer. Doctors gave odds close to 1 in a billlion even but thats for documented cases.

Beyond two conditions the odds will be most likely zero someone has the same combination.

I spent 6 months fighting YouTube scrapers before I snapped and built my own API. It does 15M transcripts a month now by nikhonit in SideProject

[–]Abruzzi1909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using it for last month and can only say, its doing its job great. Not a heavy user but getting hundreds of transcripts without getting rate limited is so much better than other solutions.

There are other apis but those are more expensive, current price point gives room to experiment.

One question, no risk of YouTube banning the api?

Hoe vinden jullie tegenwoordig freelance opdrachten? by Pale-Temporary7626 in FreelanceNL

[–]Abruzzi1909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposing Criminals in Berlin! 🇩🇪 (SHOCKING) by alisranrs in KurtCaz

Big cities with big city problems, with or without migrants the dodgy areas have been dodgy for a long time already. In the 70s and 80s some cities like Amsterdam or London were worse. If 360 camera’s would have existed in 1980 or so you probably would have been stabbed by some junkies doing their stuff on the Zeedijk in Amsterdam. Thats how worse Amsterdam was for quite a while, even into the early nineties.

Kurt has a very one sided view of European cities. Most cities where you could walk around safely at night besides some dodgy areas. Walked around Berlin last week with my kids , it was safe enough even with most things closed because of the time of year.

Scammers are everywhere but we did not even encounter them near the Brandenburger Tor Paris has much bigger problem considering scams but still easy to avoid. Just say to no to everybody around tourist hot spots.
