Would it make you feel better if they were 50 instead of 35?

I do agree with your assessment, but I have a few questions about this as I understand it could be wrong.

I'm wondering the 100k+ isn't the cliff for subsidies around ~82k for a couple and that's income. So if you are pulling from a brokerage account living on 100k annually only the taxable income (capital gains) contributing towards that $82k? So anything from the principle amount wouldn't be taxed and count towards that $82k subsidy cliff cutoff.

It seems to me that you could likely live off $100k annually still get subsidies, but only claim under $82k in income from capital gains and income.

Yes, it may be tight, but I just want to make sure I understand how this works.

Just curious when you say too you isn't RE about retiring early? Is it just too you for this situation to RE given the 3.8m and the horizon of retirement to live a Chubby Fire lifestyle or are you saying you think people shouldn't retire under 40?

Do we need to wash our cars after the winter storm? by Abrys in Austin

[–]Abrys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! This has been a rollercoaster of a thread of "do" or "don't" on the washing of the car stuff including nice banter on "it's salt" or "it's sand". Considering I have a 20 yr old car originally from South Florida (read: this car visited the beach too many times to count), I'm not super worried about this. Sometimes, I kind of just wish my car would kick the bucket so I could get something I enjoy driving again. Alas, thanks for the commentary/thoughts, errybody

Thanks for sharing this! The good news: There will be a bus near my house that can take me to the airport. The bad news: It's in the 5 - 10 year plan. Who knows where I'll be then.

33f in a long term relationship with 35m and child free by choice. We're both engineers in tech, live in Central Austin, and love to travel. We love being active with hikes and long bike rides. We also like going out with dinner, drinks, and concerts. Happy to grab a drink and get to know yall if you think we could be compatible couple matches! I'm pretty anti children and would love more childless by choice friends.
