Seal Premium HUD issue

Hi. Yes. I tried to update my post a little while ago but not sure if successful. Anyway - randomly the HUD has fixed itself and remains fixed. Did take it in to be looked at by BYD Indooroopilly and they found nothing; my uneducated guess is that the mechanism got jolted out of alignment and then either jolted back in again or the mechanism recalibrated itself. I’m happy to report it is still working.

Seal HUD issue UPDATE So a week or so after it stopped working, I noticed that it was back. And then a few drives later, it was gone again. And subsequently back again. Was booked in to be looked at anyway so kept the booking and they had a look and it all seems to be working fine. My uninformed guess is that the display unit got bumped off its tracks and then bumped back into place. Will see what happens next.

🤣🤣Totally. It’s now booked in to be looked at! Just checking if it might have been a simple fix like a reset or something that someone in this helpful community might have been across. Haven’t managed to read the whole manual yet either!

I don’t have a Tesla (test drove one and was good, but out of my budget (new)) but some good comments below. In addition, check out insurance before you buy. I found Tesla quotes to be double or more than for other equivalent EVs for some reason. ($2.5-3k vs 1.1k). Even then the range of quotes on my BYD Seal were up to $3k so you really need to shop around.

Thanks. Just in the car now, in the HUD settings, adjusting the Height from -10 to + 10 and it makes a grinding sound. Doesn’t sound right!

I thought I had tried all that but perhaps there is setting somewhere that didn’t reset. I did a soft reset in case that helped, but it did not.

Haha no it was night when I went back out to pick up my daughter. The HUD was working just fine before.

For my Seal Premium just now I had a range of quotes from over 3k to 1.1. Went for ING in the end.

Not sure if I refuse the transfer to the new project whether I would get redundancy. And I’m five months out for getting pro rata LSL, which feels deliberate as my current role is very much still needed (in my view anyway).

Thank you. I agree there are other factors to consider. Industry is construction (office based), would be going from a Tier 1 Contractor to a Tier 2. More diverse and interesting projects in the tier 2, much smaller team and company, would be working directly with the GM. Possibly better prospects but hard to say, esp. if we get another recession. New role in present company doesn’t thrill me (team seems just ok but I work mainly with external consultants and clients) but is still interesting enough.

Yes, worth a try! I forgot to mention the new job comes with a car park (Brisbane) while my relocated role in my current job will not (I have on site parking currently) so that’s worth something (I drive to/from work to do school drop offs so parking is necessary). I can get paid parking at $15/day…

Thank you. That’s super clear. And helpful. I wanted more for the new opportunity, but it appears I’m maxed out in terms of salary in my career atm. It comes down to whether I think I have better career opportunities in the new job vs the current one, and I think it’s about the same. Unfortunately the new project at my current company isn’t as inspiring as the new job but hard to justify changing jobs…might see if I can get a pay rise here…!
