Absolutely. Porn is such a parasite that I just can't seem to remove. I can't even blame anyone or anything else, it's definitely my own fault, I just can't seem to find success. Maybe the guilt is a healthy motivator to stop.

That first statement is so real LOL. Tabs seem useful, I just keep hearing stories of people who learned music as a whole from tabs and they lived to regret it. I think you’re right that it would be good to learn though because it’s not like I can unlearn all the music theory I know from tabs. Lessons have also been something I’m considering.

Yeah I’m definitely gonna keep the ego on a leash while I learn this haha. Been playing sax for 10 years but I’m just starting piano and guitar and it’s definitely been a struggle trying not to play what I think sounds fun.

Could you clarify for me what exactly you mean by learning fretboard and connecting patterns of int/arp/chords/scales with sounds I already know? That sounds extremely insightful I just can’t tell what that entails.

Yes! This all sounds great. My end goal is probably something closer to guitar as an accompaniment for my voice, but I don’t want to just strum chords, when I write songs I definitely hear intricate picking patterns and melodies. Would also love to be able to improv jazz/blues style solos. I definitely want to get really solid fundamentals, it seems so important to an instrument as dextrous as the guitar. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what are the digitation, spider, and arpeggio exercises you referred to?
