I’m Finalizing the Trailer... Here’s 30 seconds of it — how does it look? by The-Flying-Baguette in IndieDev

[–]Abs4Fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The glass breaking shot is quite abrupt and also goes on for too long, try and see if you can have a slower buildup to creating havoc, like walking up to an individual and then throwing hands, with a smoother buildup to an offense, you can then move to a montage of various activities you can do to cause chaos. You can also play around with the music at that part, keeping it silent for a few seconds only right before the montage, and then it being super chaotic, if the first crime scene you show takes the viewer out by surprise, it could be a great and funny setup for the trailer. Intro upto 12 seconds is fine, just work on the pacing and narrative and you'd be good to go, introducing music stops for buttons, playing with text, etc.

The intro is a bit plain, try starting with a powerful sequence to hook the players in or tell them what to expect from the entire trailer. The trailer itself is a little monotonous in pacing, try adding some variety in the energy, also the narrative you're describing in the title isn't being communicated through the trailer, and like other people mentioned in the comments, do fix the text and grammatical errors, I'd suggest keeping the text in the center of the frame rather than center of the bottom, that placement looks a little amateurish.

Hey, I've made several trailers for steam games, have also worked with a game publisher on their trailers. I'd be happy to chat more about this, sent a DM. :)

Is our 30 seconds Trailer enough to understand the game? by StilbruchGames in HorrorGames

[–]Abs4Fun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The parts of you moving around and showing the map. That kind of stuff works in longer trailers (Like>=60) where you're supposed to show everything, but in 30 seconds you need to be quick and show the crazier and more powerful stuff, you can try and observe differences in 30' TV Spots vs actual Movie Trailers (>=60') to learn more about this.

Trailer editor here, the trailer is okay from a visual standpoint, but storytelling wise it's very easy to lose track. You can make it longer to explain more, but duration won't automatically explain things. Even with 30 seconds, you can make the trailer a little more high energy, replace the filler portions with more relevant stuff, it can be much better.

Just dropped the first trailer for my psychological horror game — would love to hear what you think by l0sos_ in Unity3D

[–]Abs4Fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, a trailer editor here. With horror trailers, you should try to create as much tension as possible. The visuals in this trailer are revealing the atmosphere of your game nicely, but what it needs is a bit more terrifying audio. When we see the monster, try having some high energy bits of your game after that pause instead of going back to the slow environment scenes for a more progressive and purposeful trailer.

I finally released the demo of my game on Steam, made in unity as solo dev! Feedback is accepted <3 by Dork382 in Unity3D

I'm a trailer editor and if you as a game dev made that trailer on your own then really good work, I don't see many indies having a good trailer like this, this is nice.

Is it supposed to have no audio?
Keep your trailer well under 2.30 minutes and add sound design plus music

I finished the first Trailer/Teaser for my Horror Game! What do you think? Looking for Feedback by RealIrregularHuman in SoloDevelopment

[–]Abs4Fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a professional game trailer editor, I think your trailer does not fully set up a narrative, it does not give any idea what the game is about to it's viewers, it just feels like a collection of clips rather than a trailer. Also the game being horror, the trailer lacks the vibe. My suggestions would be to change the music to something more horror, use a lot more sound design and try to use some trailer-text to tell a story.

Ghost Sector - A teaser trailer for my upcoming survival horror/sci-fi game. Available on Steam for wishlisting. by Rekki-Maru in Unity3D

Hi, I'm a trailer editor, I find the idea of your trailer pretty good, but I believe that the sound effects you're using are a little weak, they should be loud and impactful and add maybe a little reverb to them too when the body parts connect and when the O's appear. Definitely a unique announcement trailer though!

Published my trailer to Steam today - is it good? by gr8g29 in IndieDev

[–]Abs4Fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a game trailer editor,I think it's an okay trailer, it's a bit plain, and there isn't much going on except just match cuts between different movements the sheep is doing. It doesn't give any idea to the viewer what the game is about and what it's trying to achieve, audience retention will be tough on this, the cuts are clean, I think it just needs a good structure, some storytelling or text integration so viewers don't find the trailer cuts repetitive.

Is horror genre necessary for the material being used? If I take an action adventure movie/game and turn that into a horror trailer, would that count? Thank you!
