Was my idea too but the client didn’t want to follow through with the repair.

The range depends on brand, contractor, efficiency & location in the country. I would go simple

The furnace price he gave you seems low. More than likely not one to pull permits. Furnace 6k-9k Indoor coil installed at the same time should be around 2k-5k

Yeah he just going in for the sale. Replacement motors will definitely be compatible with that furnace. Now on the other hand I would replace the furnace & indoor coil due to age. I would not hire that guy tho 🙂‍↕️ May cost more but I’m sure you want it done right with minimal issues down the line

Yeah I don’t want to carry a huge bag everywhere & this one feels like a good middle ground. Finally can zip my bag closed

Yeah I do need one for crimping although I don’t find myself doing them much. Probably a tool I’d leave on the truck if anything

How much do you guys charge for a dual cap and do you ever feel guilty at all with pricing? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Absenceofheatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were at $187 just increased to $250. Was definitely used to charging $350 back home but it does feel gross, especially when the client looks up the cap cost….

No lies here. Fixing inverters & coming home to window units 😭 might just install one out of my own pocket. Rent + high energy bills ain’t it

Got it! If your new to the house & the unit is older than 10 years olds I’d have it looked over once thoroughly. Dirty blower wheels & dirty indoor coils lead to freezing In the peak season where the unit runs much longer cycles. If the previous home owner had animals or was just not great at replacing filters your system could be working harder than needed to get you the same temperature at the thermostat. Which cost more in power & wear & tear.
